  • Awesome backwater retreat

    by Peeyush G on August 18, 2017

Awesome.. Just simply awesome. We stayed here for a day which was our last day of our Kerala trip. I choose it for the last day to make a memorable ending to the honeymoon trip and Kondai Lip played a master stroke in doing so. The resort sits in between of backwaters, the entry to resort is via a short canoe ride. The staff and crew were also awesome, they allowed my wife to row the canoe ride to hotel. Resort has a perfect ambiance and looks mesmerizing in evening and night. The resort gives free boating, badminton, fishing (didn't caught any), Spa, massage, and a complimentary boat ride to a near beach. The place turns awesome at dawn and dusk. Food and service was good. The boat ride to beach was really memorable with sailing across canals, the route has many homes and fishing nets. You get to see lots of species of birds. Would definitely recommend a stay in Kondai Lip.

  • Trip to kerla is incomplete without Kondai Lip... Great place, amazing cook

    by Sudhir P on August 18, 2017

I feel fortunate to be there. I missed the boat ride as I got stuck, the staff went out of the way, and I could do half way journey on boat in backwaters. The staff there is asset and is ornament like kohinoor. I fell in love with this heritage resort, room and outside had complete heritage flavor, esp the furniture & cottage with ultra modern facilities. This place is in the back waters so only way inside is via boat. I had the best keriali style chilly chicken, I think the best ever I ate in my life, the core was very soft and juicy. The taste will last for years, I was so tempted that I sat with chef and he wrote recipe for me. many thanks. I tried boat ride for an hour alone in this backwaters. Place is very clean and filled with coconut trees, nicely lit up, in the night looks awesome. The breakfast was again a treat, and the best of fruits and dishes were in offering in a open restaurant.Room service was also very good. I have only good or very good feeling for the place, people and platter. Must visit for sure again and again

  • Perfect combination of Peace, Greenery and Backwater Cottages

by Praveensharp on August 10, 2017

Month of travel: August Weather: I was expecting showers but was surprised to find lovely weather with breeze all around Resort: The moment you reach the entrance, you get a feeling that you are in for a lovely treat and I must say that I wasn't let down. You take a boat from the main road to reach the report premises. High-points: 1. The cottages are very authentic in their look and planned in such a way that almost every cottage gets an un-interrupted access/view of the lovely backwater in front of them. 2. Backwaters have all kinds of boats (paddle, kayak, shikara and etc) anchored and we are free to use them at any time as per our convenience. Kayak was my fav :) 3. You'll find benches all along the backwater front which should be ideal to sit and chat and fishing (they provide u with hand-made fishing sticks with wheat flour as bait) 4. The food is really nice. I did like few of the curries but the names are really difficult to remember :) 5. Herbal massage is a treat but you need to book an appointment. The charges are around 3500 for a Shirodhara treatment. 6. They offer local boat tour which is nice and relaxing. You get to see Chinese fish nets in action and a trip to local beach. Low-points: 1. Breakfast menu could be little better. As most of the items were around Dosa and Idly. I do like them so could leave with it. 2. Communication with the housekeeping could be little difficult if you don't know the local language but again the reception staff could help you out here. All and all, loved the resort and would love to come again with my family. Ideal place to bring in the extended family.

  • Beautiful, relaxing stay

    by Puja D on July 25, 2017

A beautiful place with a lot of water around and plenty of activities to engage in! The rooms are cozy and comfortable; Just a few steps away from the room, there are backwaters with pedal boats. Well-maintained place with friendly staff! We were even provided options regarding our food choices. Slightly expensive, but a perfect place for a weekend get-away!

  • Monsoon holidays amidst the backwaters, resort needs improvement

    by bonvoyage_satarupa on July 23, 2017

After going through the reviews,we opted for Kondai lip Venice East package for 2 nights. It is indeed a beautiful property to spend a quiet weekend. Lush greenery, serene backwaters surrounding the resort, gorgeous sunrise, nicely built cottages facing the lake ( the lake is basically a small part of the backwaters)... everything made this monsoon holiday very special. Special thanks to their humble and courteous staffs, who never gave a chance to complain. Here are the scope of improvements: 1. Food- Lack of taste. We have been Kerala before, and seeing the menu card and price, we had high expectations from the restaurant. Meen Moilee had capsicum in it and the fish was not fresh. Kerala fish fry was tasteless, overfried and dry. Not much options for evening snacks. 2. No Life jackets- They should provide life jackets for the complementary paddle boats, shikara rides and backwater ride(during the speed boat ride to the nearby beach). As we were traveling with small kid, we felt the need of life jackets more. 3. Location vs Entertainment quotient- Once you enter the resort you don't have much options to roam around nearby, it's surrounded by water... It's far from Kochi and Allepy on the other side. Evening time there is not much options for the guest other than watching TV or watching it drizzling outside! You have to order dinner early as the restaurant closes by 9.30pm. we felt, there should have been some fun activities (or cultural program may be!)to make the stay merrier.
