Great Resort at the Shores of the Backwaters
by uhu55 on
We stayed three nights to relax after a very intense birding tour along the Western Ghats. And relax we did! There are comfortable, large rooms (with or without view of the backwaters), and there is friendly staff and a great restaurant. There is also little garden where kingfishers, Koels, kites and other birds visit. We had a pond heron that more or less lived with us - almost always in front of our room :-). Great experience!

Beautiful and quiet location on the lake. They offer the following complimentary: yoga classes, bicycle, breakfast, kayak, daily evening boat tour. All staff (reception, restaurant, housekeeping, spa) were accommodating, friendly and focused on service! The spa was fantastic (I did 3 treatments in 3 days). Looking forward to visiting again.

The rooms were delightful and the lakeside view was stunning. However the whole place needs some basic maintenance and the food was poor but expensive. The staff were Courteous and always very helpful.
Best Ever Introduction to Yoga
by besteverindianadv on
I recently spent a week at the Punnamada Resort to relax and unwind after a six-week tour through India. My goals were to detox and recharge. I was also curious about yoga. Many friends had recommended it to me as an alternative to regular gym sessions. I was fortunate to be introduced to yoga by Yoga Master, Pradeep Kumar. I took four morning group sessions with him and I am a new yoga convert. His sessions are well-structured for the beginner. He starts with flexibility exercises, followed by the 'Sun Salutation' and concludes with a series of breathing and meditation exercises. At each stage, he explained the purpose and potential benefits of the exercises. At the same time, Pradeep demonstrated the link between yoga practice and spirituality. He would be the one to ring the bell at the entrance of the hotel and to pay his respects to Ganesh. I am now committed to finding a yoga teacher and/or class in Sydney to continue my practice. I'm grateful to Pradeep for the great introduction. Randall Pearce

Amazing experience at Punnamada, from the service, boat trip to food and massage. Perfect for families. Very peaceful, clean and well managed. They arranged the transfert from airport with a very good driver. Surroundings are quiet, it's the perfect place to rest. We didn't try the yoga since it doesn't happen on weekends and that's the only negative point... The boat trip was great, there are many games for the children in the hotel and a pool. I would recommend this place to my friends and family who would like to visit India, whether with kids or not, it's just a very good place for everyone!

All rooms are great, but lake-view would be the most quiet and peaceful.
