We stayed in the Hermitage which is above the Kaafal Cafe but came to have lunch at Mohan . Very nice ambience - good food - nice pizza and soups. They have a small bakery . The prices are a bit on the higher side . The restaurant have a nice view .Overall it was a good experience .

Day 6: What started as a humble eatery has now blossomed into a full-fledged resort. It is situated en-route to Dinapani and offer spectacular views of the mountain peak and valley. The moment you stand in front of Mohan, what strikes you is the amazing expansive facade showcasing it amazing growth story viz. multi-cuisine restaurant, modern accommodation and an Origami store. Truly, Mohan has come a long way! As we walked past the entrance, we could not help but notice the stunning Himalayan landscape shot by Jaimitra Singh Bhist showcasing the panorama right from Nanda Ghunti (towering at 20K+ feet) to Panchuli massifs (hovering at about 22K feet) - in all he managed to capture 22 peaks in a single frame. It was one of those jaw dropping moment for us. As we entered the resort, we were transported into a different world all-together. A combination of dimly lit walkaway opening into bright & vibrant indoor restaurant - the red & white upholstery complemented the pine furniture and created a stunning ambience. The outdoor seating was equally mesmerizing - the shaded seating nestled amongst the flowers and a backdrop of the sun-kissed verdant valley were spectacular. Equally eye-catching was the open-air seating, which was mostly occupied by the music freaks/ adventure junkies - and it was they who added the color to Mohans ambience. You could have easily mistaken this as a mini Swiss pub. Great setting indeed! The resort is built on a terraced plantation schema and all the rooms have mountain views, i.e. rooms are spread about 30-50 meters below the road level and are easily accessible by sturdy flight of stairs. My personal favorite was the Luxury room laced with all modern amenities and free Wi-Fi. The all around pine paneling and flooring is an instant eye-catcher giving an ultra-clean look to the room- very tastefully down interiors. The furniture is just apt for the room size and I just could not help admiring the futon. The restrooms were super-clean and very lit (especially with the sun beaming down). As we drew the curtains, bright sunlight just sashayed down into the room and just livening it up to a new level. The quality of the linen is exemplary - lovely fresh fragrance. Also, the toiletries were top of the line. Absolutely, no half measures - thats is what Labor of Love delivers ultimately. The food is altogether on a different level - it is multi-cuisine. We were pleasantly surprised to notice seafood on the menu - wow what novelty in such a remote place. The breakfast spread was very interesting - especially the English breakfast was an instant hit me - stunning food. The lunch & dinner were equally diverse platters. It was difficult to believe that such delicious food was being served in Almora. Dont blame yourself if you overeat. Coz, despite being full to the brim, I still managed to gorge on many of their specialty item including peanut butter pan cake, pastas, fresh juices, nutella deserts, waffles etc. etc. Also bear in mind the Israeli food platter attracts quite an audience. Since we are altitude, the food is served in portions, so that it remains warm. Something that I missed sorely was the bakery items, currently this off-menu. However, the biggest asset that the off-beat destination property has (besides the location, ambience, food etc.) is the service commitment. Every single team member has an infectious smile, and this starts right from Mohan who is usually seated right next to the kitchen. The staff carries the attitude your command is our wish and all credit goes to Mohan for training the local people (coming form very humble background) so brilliantly - they can easily be mistaken for someone who is from a top notch Hotel Management institute. Another striking feature of retreat is its welcoming attitude - it is open to all (guests and visitors) since it operates on an open restaurant and resort model. The visitor restrooms are sparkling clean - the best we ever saw during this entire trip. I will strongly vouch for visitors to at least plan one meal at Mohans an savor the delicacies of your choice and get a first-hand experience of Mohan Magic. I shall definitely come again to Mohan when I next plan my Munsiyari-Pithogarh-Askot-Abott Mount-Champavat leg of Uttrakhand exploration. Till then Adieus!

First of all credits to Mohan & his bro for fluidic administration.... Rooms are very clean... Every room are valley facing... Approach to the each set of rooms are personalized which is unique ... being a pure veg, food is good.. service is their main trump... The best part is one can see Himalayan Picks from open restaurant area & accordingly one can plan worthiness of visit to Zero Point ( visibility almost same )... (In spite of water input limitations) They have adopted beautiful Water Harvesting system & good plantation techniques... we had good time with family...

This place is secluded with beautiful view of the mountains. You can see the clouds come an go every minute and the sky changes colours. Amazing scenes especially in monsoons. The food is okay. Good but Not great. A little pricy compared to other cafes in Almora.
