My trip to Gir Resort was amazing. The resort, the food and the hospitality was brilliant. I would definitely visit again soon. This location is great for an escapism from the outside world and for the ultimate relaxation holiday. Also seeing the lions was out of this world experience which is a once in a lifetime experience. The cottages are of excellent standard with hot water facilities and air conditioning. The food was very delicious and the resort caters off your every needs upon request.

Most people wanting to see the ellusive Asiatic lions of India in their last refuge head up to the Sasan Gir National Park in North Western Gujurat state. From there daily tours take people out hoping to spot these rarest of creatures - usually with limited success. We were lucky enough to stay on the Eastern side of the park away from the main tourist hub at the wonderful Gir Retreat. The collection of 5 - 6 bungalows were all comfortable and clean but it was the friendliness of the staff, including camp manager Mr Khan, that really gave the place its value. Consequently, the food and conversation each evening around the communal eating area were always excellent. However, Gir Retreat's real ace is its position away from the main centres of population in the area. Because of this we were able to track and successfully sight prides of lions on every day of our five day trip as well as hearing their roars every night from camp. An unforgettable experience.
