What's Good: BREACH OF TRUST This is in reference to booking reference number 22031593361, at Hotel Abode, Amritsar from 23rd March-25th march 2015. We have been booking hotels and airlines through your website regularly. Of late we have found, that you are over charging your clients. You have charged us rupees 5011/-, for the above reference number booking at Amritsar whereas the bill details/ amount forwarded by you to hotel abode Amritsar stands at Rupees 4120/- as per their copy of the bill downloaded from your portal name travel guru. This is clearly a case of cheating and distrust that you have overcharged us by Rupees 891/- You are requested to send me a cheque of refund in the sum of Rupees 891/- or credit to my SCB card account number 5444 3887 5628 1707 in the name of G S Chawla. Kindly confirm your action at the earliest. Yours sincerely, G S Chawla 09811050110

Good hotel situated at the excellent location, just opposite to Jallianwala Bagh right on the heritage street and walkable distance from Golden Temple. They have in-house restaurant Zyka that serves tasty food. A highly recommended place. However the room size was small through rooms were clean. They have a centralized exhaust system in bathroom not individual exhaust fan that doesn't work properly as the bathrooms remain smelly. Their service is uncertain, sometime it is quick and sometimes you have to remind them couple of times. Otherwise good for 2 night stay.

On my recent trip to Amritsar we stayed at the Abode Hotel primarily because of its excellent location and reasonable price. The pros: Good location, decent clean room. The cons: The air conditioning was periodically turned off. When I was complaining to Virender he said please be silent madam, there are other guests here. Those very guests were also angry for the same reason. First I was told there was a short circuit! Isnt that dangerous? Then I was told it never went off. The other guests said these guys are all liars. The TV screen repeatedly said that the channels were not applied for. Clearly they had not been paid for in both our rooms. After repeated complaints they were restored. The room key wouldnt work. We had to get it recharged almost every time we returned to the hotel from outside. This we were told, was for our security! I have been very secure in hotels the world over, where the keys have worked. The young lady at the reception is sweetly clueless. The wifi was also erratic. Luvish was the only helpful staff. Be warned that the hotel is in a pedestrian precinct so you have to walk out some distance to get to your car. However just two minutes from the Temple and Jallianwalla Baug.

First thing first- Hotel Abode is the same hotel as Abode UNA Xpress. They have changed the name so don't waste your time looking for 2 of them. We ( Me,Wife and 7 year old kid) stayed here from 25th Jan to 27th Jan. Rooms are good enough and of decent size for the price one pays. This is a pretty decent property as it has its own advantages. Its very close to temple- barely 100M - 150M and you can walk anytime to the temple( of course depending on the queue there). Also Jaliawala Baug is bang opposite to the hotel. Another place which you need to visit is "Durgiana Temple" which is also known as Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Durga Tirath and Sitla Mandir. You will get 50 Rupees Hand Rickshaw or 100 Electric Rickshaw from the temple. While on your way take Electric Rickshaw which will cost Rs 50. Food- Best thing about this hotel is their food. Though we only had breakfast from here but even it was scrumptious. We had our reservation when we ordered south India but trust me even it was excellent in taste. As they are on the street and close to temple, there are many eating and shopping options which I one enjoy. But if you really wanna enjoy Panjabi food then please walk up to 3 Dhabas over there : - Bharawan Da Dhaba - Brother Dhaba - Kesar Da Dhaba All of them offer yummy and finger licking food. So recommendation would be keep the diet at bay for few days and enjoy the foodgasm here. I can't rave enough of the food as I am not a foodie but here you need to forget your inhibitions on what you usually eat and what you avoid. Just enjoy the food and get back to your place and start your run. Shopping: Everything is at your convenience just on the street but its expensive. You just need to walk towards Brothers Dhaba and take a left from there. You will find ample shops for ladies clothes which other are expensive on the street. There aare many options for buying Fulkari on that street. Visit many shops as prices vary. Negotiate well and then buy. Souvenirs - you can buy from the street as they have good options and are not so expensive as compared to clothes and jootis. In case you want to go to Chandigarh then there are 2 Travel shops just outside this hotel and you should get a Sedan for 2500 and 3000 for Innova with parking and toll extra. Don't get fooled by the numbers they quote for parking and toll as its almost negligible ( Parking is 0 and Toll is 25+35+90).In the 11th hour they would say pay 500 extra and we will pay for parking and toll. Put your foot down and clearly negotiate when you are paying them the advance.

Sometimes have hot water in the shower, sometimes not... Food in the hotel restaurant was not fresh. They have probably used a not so fresh ingredients, so got ill after I was eating dinner there. The restaurant is not busy, so that is not a good sign in India... Most of the staff is not so professional attitude, especially the girl in the reception. The only guy that dose his job perfectly in this hotel, is a tall dark guy (sorry but I do not remember his name). I would put him to be the manager, the rest are just doing nothing much... The only good thing I can say about this hotel is the location. That was perfect.

We hv visited Amritsar in the month of January 2018 with family, it was a hectic journey all the way from Ahmedabad to Delhi to Amritsar by flight. We landed early in the morning on 26th January and reached early at the hotel. We booked 3 Deluxe Rooms but early check in was possible in a one room only but after requesting hotel staff has arrange another room as we hv senior citizens which had to be take some rest and 3rd room was also provided soon. I must appreciate front desk help and hospitality for this. Rooms was overall good and clean but if anyone will travel with kid/s then instead of Deluxe premium rooms are more advisable due to little bit more space for accommodation. I must appreciate hospitality of restaurant supervisor/manger who was always ready to help with good behavior. Food was also good and most importantly Golden Temple is on a walkable distance of 2 to 3 min and Jaliawala baug is opposite of this hotel which are advantages of this hotel. You can easily visit the Golden Temple as per your wish at any point of time. So i highly recommended this hotel for Amritsar visit. Thanks to team Abode Regards, Naresh Dua
