Nice surroundings with a village like look in luxurious atmosphere. Rooms are large but not warm and wecoming. Something is missing. Hot water was very limited and the bathroom design although "villagish" was not practical. Restaurant had limited choices but the Tea & Pakodas in the eveninhgs were excellent

Our agent booked this for us. We have visited India on several occasions staying in 5 star properties, Oberoi, Taj, Imperial in Delhi etc. We were unaware a Taj hotel had recently opened in Amritsar and were advised this was the best hotel on offer, goodness me, really!!! On arrival it is clear this is not a heritage property, not unless you consider something built 2 years ago by not very good builders so it looks old and tatty. We had the Royal suite, unsure what the rest of the rooms were like, this was basic. Bedding and sheets poor but pillows were lumpy foam that smelt rather sour. The bathroom was eye popping, plastic shower curtain with fitting made from rusty pipe, we were advised that hot water would run out after 10 mins, this was after about 2 mins when you had shampoo on your hair, the towels were grey and a flannel they had left in the room I had to take down to reception with tweezers as it was totally disgusting and looked like someone had cleaned the loo with it. The safe was a simple box, not attached to anything, in the wardrobe with 2 keys, it could have just been picked up and removed, the hotel did not have any main safe. The bowl of 'complimentary fruit was 2 mouldy bananas and 2 bruised apples sweating under some cling film, the mini bar was a 1960's huge fridge. However, we were introduced to the F&B manager who looked unsavoury, he had a leather jacket zipped up and the filthiest jeans I have ever seen, he was totally unctuous, wringing his hands and saying 'why not' to every request - he didn't venture into the kitchen once, probably banned due to health and safety concerns. The restaurant (aka transport cafe) was like a brightly lit Mexican cantina, the dinner offerings were a hotchpotch of curries,of which the lamb offerings held little meat and indeed the 'on the bone' chicken were predominantly bone. The breakfast was very limited but included such as a half eaten jar of jam complete with butter and toast remnants from previous users.Omelettes were flat dry and completely flavourless, eggs whether poached or fried were slimy and undercooked.Lunch offerings were limited to basic toasted sandwich other than the dinner menu. Alcohol offerings were rather limited to Kingfisher beer and a small selection of spirits. The heralded tractor ride round the village was a matter of sitting on the wheel arch hanging on for dear life! A fundamental issue really was that the staff, whilst generally willing except for the reception lady!, seemed to lack even basic hotel training. Whilst we had a magical time with the sights and events of Amritsar and therefore we were at this hotel for 4 nights,it seems most visitors are one or two nights maximum - this suggests they knew something we did not! So - don't go thinking this is a luxury/heritage hotel,it is not.

We found this Gem of a place in Amritsar on the suggestion of a friend for my daughters wedding. On our first visit we fell in love with the whole package of Ambience and energy and it proved right as it was the perfect venue for the family to celebrate The location is apt being right next to the airport and not in a congested area. The rooms are laid out in a very interesting manner with names for each of them. Food was excellent and everybody in the family were fans of the place by the end of it. It has all the modern amenities combined with a rustic look and feel. Special mention for the Owner Sahib for taking so much care to make our functions perfect and also of Vishalji for always being there to give us Yummy food with a smile ! This place is a must visit when in Amritsar !

Initially looks a wonderful, quirky hotel. However, it is very near to a major wedding venue, and there is no insulatiion in the front rooms, and the noise is unbearable - wedding went on until 6 am! Hotel didn't care a damn! Service in restaurant poor, breakfast poor. Shame, as it could be so good!
