The Kailas Hotel is set back 20+ metres from the road, so there is plenty of room to park, should you be arriving by car. The Reception area is located alongside the restaurant. .We were greeted warmly, which was much appreciated, provided with the WiFi code, and given our keys. I was particularly pleased to learn that breakfast was available much earlier than in most hotels in India, as this would enable us to visit the caves at first light, and before the arrival of buses from Aurangabad..To reach our rooms, we were escorted through the beautiful and very well kept gardens. The Kailas Hotel offers both a/c cottages and non-a/c rooms, and this review is for the cottages. These are available with big windows and direct views over the caves, or with views into the gardens. Each cottage has an attractive outdoor area with quite large table and 3 chairs, so if you want to enjoy an evening snack, or just listen to the birds retire for the night, or if you want to have an al-fresco lunch, then this is a lovely place at which to do so. The room in each cottage is spacious. The bed is very comfortable, there is a table with 2 chairs, a good size bench on which to put luggage, and wardrobe. The a/c pumps out plenty of chilled air, which was very much appreciated during the heat of the day. I found it difficult to adjust the a/c fan, meaning the resulting breeze was too cool for comfortable sleeping. Better to switch off the a/c fan, turn on the overhead spinning fan, remove the bed quilt, and sleep using only the sheets - or at least that was the case in early November. The bathroom has adequate space around the hand-basin for toiletries, and this was appreciated. Many hotels fall down in this regard, but not the Kailas. The shower lacks a curtain or partition, but Management has thoughtfully provided a broom-type gadget for sweeping the excess water into the drainage outlet. Toilet paper is provided on arrival. The hotel has a large and very good restaurant. The chef prepares excellent food. We enjoyed several dishes during our stay, the Palak Paneer and various breads being particularly good. Chairs in the dining room are rather heavy, and not very comfortable; it would be good if Management purchased inexpensive foam cushions to put on the seats. So, minor criticisms aside, this is an excellent choice if you want to visit Ellora Caves (and these are really worth visiting). Bear in mind when making a booking that the caves are closed on a Tuesday. If you find yourself in Ellora on a Tuesday, then organise to visit the Ajunta Caves further North on that day. Otherwise, take a walk to inspect the unpublicised and close-by step-well, or stroll along farm roads off the main road that lead into typical Indian villages. The latter will give an insight into the traditional way of life of many Indians.

Located right across Ellora caves, Hotel Kailas is treat to live in! Wonderful atmosphere, Huge cottages and recently developed lawn is a cherry on the top. Food quality is very good and staff is very kind. We visited this place 3-4 times now, it never disappoints, safe and beautiful place! Winter is best season to visit Ellora and Hotel Kailas!

Booked a non ac accommodation for 3+1 through MakeMyTrip here. Just few hundred mtrs from ellora caves. This is good place to stay, however, you need to book AC facilitiy:). I have faced few issues. This non AC facility does not have WiFi connectivity as promised by management. Moreover except Bsnl, Other mobile service providers do not have good connectivity. In the room airtel signals are almost zero. No intercom available. Management provided land line number to reach out to the reception. This is of no use since there is no connectivity. This non ac facility is around 100 mtrs from reception area. One need to walk to reception for any service you need. Bedsheets provided had red colored stains on them. Premises is not cleaned properly. Few stray dogs moving around. All this made me bit insecure. Great part is. MakeMyTrip Did a good job in resolving my issues. Thanks to them. I had atleast good 6 hr sleep.

This hotel is walkable distance from Ellora caves and Grishneshwar temple and located 40 kms away from Aurangabad airport. The drive up to hotel from the airport is very scenic. Roads are well maintained. The stone cottage that we stayed in was very spacious and contained all required amenities. It was not fancy, but functional and comfortable. We had the caves facing view. The grounds were scenic and well maintained, an ideal place to sit, have tea and take in the scenery, esp. of the caves. Energy is generated by solar panels. The hotel does house a restaurant. Food is not fancy but tastes good. An ideal place to stay in when in Ellora!!

Had stayed in AC cottage at hotel Kailas for three nights and the stay was pleasant. Hotel is located bang on the entrance of ellora caves. In fact few of the rooms are cave facing. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff is very cooperative and helpful. Food quality is excellent. Food is slightly expensive but the portions are large. Hotel has got a very good seating places where you can spend some quality time relaxing. Overall had comfortable stay and would definitely recommend.
