What's Good: Its amidst nature and has the freshness in the air which we dont get in the city
What needs to improve : Food was terrible. Hygiene rating would go in the negative
Reason For Rating : Food was pathetic at the resort. Wonder if it was because we visited during a weekday with comparatively lesser folks. Staff asks for what needs to be cooked but end up saying that they have no stock once the food isnt being served.

Very good place for those who like to unwind and spend time in the woods. The resort is located next to the tiger reserve. To reach the resort, one need to drive through the jungle road, which is beautiful. We drove from Bangalore and it took around 5 hr 30 mins (includes a break of 45 mins for breakfast. There are no hotels/dhabas once you cross Ramanagar, so plan your break accordingly.) Road from Bangalore is under construction and half of the road is not available for traffic. The property is about 0.5 kms from the main road. There are cottages and tree houses to choose from. We stayed one of the cottages (4 bed). The resort is maintained by the tribal people and few other localities. The staff there is very courteous and helpful. They have well maintained the premises. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. Your stay will include your food - they serve both veg and non-veg options. The food is good. They also provide spa massages and therapies at reasonable rates. Overall very good experience at reasonable price. One advice to the management - please keep the plastics out!

A visit to the Ayurvedic treatment wellness centre is an absolute must and Im glad I was here ... The clean accommodation in the hut on stiltsset in the scenic jungle background; it appeared as if one was sleeping under the stars ... The excellent choice of menu especially the subtle inclusion of local cuisine ensures that you donot miss home cooked food at all ... The off-roading( drive) to the resorts entry, the early morning bird watching, the drive through the forest, the visit to the silk farm, the mesmerising sunset point, the picnic at lakeside of the wilderness camp, dancing with the Soliga tribe to the rustic beats of the drum whilst listening to their a crater all tales of Govinda ... Highly recommended resort for nature lovers and wild life lovers

Gorukana actually turned out to be very good. We took cottage room that has a double bed below and two single beds above. The food is good. But kinda starts little late than usual. Phulkas for lunch and dinner, poori for breakfast are served very hot. For nature walk and birding you need to specifically ask. We were recommended one naturalist Mr Krishna. He turned out to be awesome. We did birding with him in our own car. He takes for a 30 km ride from Gorukana towards k gudi and further down. We wanted to see Crested Hawk eagle and while almost coming back disappointed I spotted it. Next day morning we had good sightings. In the night with bonfire there is an event by the local Soliga tribe. Good learning. The property is good and some decent birding happens there. We saw verditer flycatcher there. Rooms are clean an neat. The reception is not always open..but things work. Priced at around 10k per night for 3 of us. We got 20% off..so 8k. Weekdays I guess are less crowded. Did not go to safari at k gudi

Gorukana 175 kms from blore. -A very tranquil place. -Definitely Place worth coming for insanes -Reminded me of Angana , very creative cottages. -Very clean and hygiene -Surprising not a single insect or mosquito despite very green. Beautiful location & tranquil -Food and service are good - Ayurvedic spa nice. The purpose of the place is very touching and meaningful....profits go to the tribal welfare owned by a unmarried doctor with a mission. Tribals are trained and employed here. Cost per couple would be around 20k per couple for 2N3D. ( a travelogue) Gm . we r checking out today ..so just to complete the info... Hv listed the pros of the place. A few to balance The place is very informal as regards services... more like ashram , organised manpower is lacking to guide / address concerns, very few to ask or share. The people need to be empowered for the same as the rest is reasonable . Scary at night as even predatory animals visit outside the cottage and no one to talk or call. ( our massage charges are yet to be paid no one to recieve at 8.30am as checked out) hopefully online - over and out

Had a memorable time at this eco wellness retreat! A must visit for nature lovers . This resort has 10 cottages 1 tree house and a tent house .We stayed in the tent house and it was an all together new experience. It felt wonderful waking up to the chirping sounds of the birds.Rooms are very simple neat and clean .Coming to the food they do not offer a wide spread however the food is undoubtedly delicious .The tribal dance by the locals in the evening was amazing !They also have an Ayurvedic spa .They also conduct a short nature walk which is again very good and informative .The best part is 100% of the profits go in uplifting of Soliga tribes and the education & health care of their children. All in all it was great fun! One feedback would be to increase the staff at the reception, for cooking , for general supervision as well.
