Stayed in this place early June 2017 and am earned an experience which is priceless. Great place, great people, great hospitality, great food. The important thing is its run by local people who are the tribes and know the place like back of their hands. Recommend this place for people who want to take rest

Gorukana is truly a best nature retreat, lush green around, wakeup with birds chirpings... People who really want to relax and be away from hustle bustle of city life this is the place to take a break. Best part was.. it was raining during my stay and it was real treat to the eyes. There are few activities and games to keep you occupied incase if you wish to or just relax. The tribal dance and songs are best entertainment in the evening. The profit which they generate out of Gorukana goes to the Soliga tribal welfare and this is truly amazing.

If you are planning to have some quite time with your family or you want to have a relaxed weekend with you friends then this place is worth visiting for. Accommodation: 5/5 - nice and clean cottages. Can easily accommodate 4 people. Sometimes during the night time elephants come close to the cottages you can watch them eating jack fruit from the upper floor of the cottage, perfectly safe as cottages are made of stones and concrete. Service: 5/5 - half of the staff at gorukana are from local tribes, very hospitable and helpful Food: 3.5 /5 - Food i would rate just above average. Location and activities: 4/5 - located in the middle of the jungle however as i mentioned earlier their is not much to do, it is more to have a peaceful and relaxed weekend with your family and friends Value for money: it is on the expensive side but it is run by an NGO and part of the money goes to the development of local tribes.

Gorukana is a pretty nice place set in the middle of the jungle. You get the authentic jungle experience albeit with running water, electricity, spacious cottages, hammocks, geyser and good 3 meals. The rooms are pretty spacious with space enough for 4 people to sleep, with 2 being on the mezzanine level. The mezzanine level is perfect for seating with cups of tea and friends ! It's pretty spacious and homely and there's a small balcony too. The washroom is also clean and big in size. With authentic jungle experiences come authentic jungle insects too. Be prepared for them. Just don't keep the lights switched on inside with the doors/ windows open. The hotel had a dance performance by tribal folks in the evening too. It was enjoyable. There was a refreshing morning walk through the nearby jungle and mountain peak too. However it was disappointing that there was no bonfire, bird watching, visit to the village and so on. We were looking forward to these !

Staying at Gorukana is an experience in itself. While you may find many resorts built within plantations Gorukana stands out because of the design of the cottages, hospitality, tribal dance in the evening. Pros: I like the design of the cottages- they had loft/attic with 2 single beds , besides the main queen size beds, big bathrooms, huge glass panels upto the ceiling on one side, small balcony. So as you wake upto the sound of birds chirping in the morning and open you eyes and see the trees above you, it's an experience to relish. You can stroll around in the property and see birds early morning, or laze in the hammocks. Pepper is grown in plantation and can be bought on request. Highlight of the stay definitely is the tribal dance by Soliga tribe in the evening. You can even join them and dance around the bonfire. Cons: Food was just OK, and could be improved. Add on such as small swimming pool, play area for the kids can make the stay much better. No TV and poor network coverage Other Tips Lots of insects/mosquitoes in evening. Keep door shut. Opt for ether tree house (only 1) or cottages near to spa (107) as they have extra windows and better view
