We travelled as a family of four, including 2 kids aged 8 and 9, and had an experience to remember a life time. The property is beautifully constructed as luxury tents in the midst of the jungle in the buffer zone of the national park. The interiors of the tent consisting of the bedroom, a luxurious bathroom and an open deck that reminds you of a

We always wanted to stay at a Jungle Safari Lodge or Hotel, and we chose Kanha as the location and there chose the best Jungle Safari Resort by Taj Safaris, The Banjaar Tola, we were picked up from Raipur Airport and took about 4 hours by the Hotel Pick up Innova which was very comfortable, I recommend that people flying out from Mumbai choose Raipur airport instead of Jabalpur as the road from Raipur is very good, on arriving at the lodge we were in for a surprise as we were greeted and welcomed by the entire Hotel Crew all standing in a semicircle and waving at us, this being their signature welcome at the Lodge at Banjaar Tola and completely swept us away, we had booked a Tiger Trails package and stayed for 3 nights with 2 complementary Safaris and all meals included, we went to Mukki Zone Safari as that is the closest and has the record for most Tiger Sightings and we werent disappointed as on the second Safari we spotted the Royal Bengal Tiger, the Naturalists at the Taj Safaris are all very good, we had the pleasure of being with Ashish, the deputy chief Naturalist who was very good and accommodating, and also Akhil who was great with the Safari and the Nature Walk, the Head Chef at the Hotel Mr. Nim took very good care of us and before every meal planned with us what we wanted to have for the next meals and the food was very Home like and amazing, we had all kinds of cuisine like Indian, local cuisine, Italian and as we wished, we were served fresh juices and breakfast cold and short spreads, the Hotel also carries a breakfast spread on he Safaris in the mornings, recommendation is to Choose the morning Safari, in case u are doing 2-3 Safaris then try one Morning, one evening and one night, The Hotel Camp Hosts Amit and Parikshit and the Hotel GM Atul was also very Hospitable, Altogether a very satisfying, enjoyable and safe Tiger Safari vacation at Kanha Courtesy Taj Safaris Banjaar Tola Team on Location.

The property itself is beautifully made and right next to Kanha National Park Mukki gate.We stayed for two nights on the full board package. The meals were light and delicious, not the usual oily, heavy fare you get at most hotels. The chef made himself present at all meals to hear our reviews and was always open to suggestions and requests for subsequent meals. The bush dinner organized by the hotel was an unbelievable experience. Special mention to Parikshit for the warm hospitality and Jaya for his insights on the safari drives and also ensuring that we managed to spot a tiger from up close !

Wonderful wildlife experience and very comfortable stay at BAARJOR TOLA at KANHA Nature Reserve. The riverside tented camp was luxurious in its accommodation and in service. The cuisine was excellent. The nature drives were exciting and many good opportunities for photos. The drivers and guides were informative and friendly, A most excellent adventure.

The hotel driver picked us up from Jabalapur airport for the four and 1/2 hour transfer to the hotel. The transfer is not included in the price of the hotel but can be added onto your bill and paid for in advance. The driver had water and snacks such as chips, cookies etc in the car for us as we drove through small villages, larger towns and rural countryside roads filled with cattle and folks walking and talking. Upon arriving, we were greeted by much of the staff with the soon to be familiar two hand wave, a welcome drink and a damp, cool towel. Every time we returned to the hotel this is how guests are greeted. We stayed in the East Camp of Banjaar Tola. Our particular unit was the second to the last at the far end of the group of luxury tents and it overlooked the river with the woods of Kanha National Park behind the river. I thought the room was nice and roomy, the deck lovely and the bathroom quite large with an open shower, two vanities, a large freestanding tub and a large area for luggage. The staff explained how to work the shower to get hot water as each unit had it's own hot water supply. We have stayed in many tents and lodges in Africa and I felt it was comparable to many of them, but not all. Booking through a Virtuoso agency you will receive one massage per person during your stay which is complimentary. The masseuse came to our deck for this service. Our meals were very nice and served often at times by Chef Nim along with one of his staff. Most of the dishes were local dishes however you could request a pizza or a sandwich. They would also do baked chicken, mashed potatoes and a vegetable if you were looking for something other than Indian cuisine. One evening, the staff had set up dinner in an open area under the stars and near the river complimented by a fire pit as it was pretty chilly out. We dined that evening with our fun and knowledgeable guide, Jaya. Fun night! Have I mentioned how nice and accommodating the staff is here? They will do whatever they can do to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. I had requested two private game drives which are more expensive as well as two game drives, not private. The Taj safari group will organize your game drives with the National Park about 3 months in advance of the guest's stay. The Taj group was good about notifying me when to book the game drives and how much they would cost. However, because they were so few people there at the time, all of our game drives ended up being private and with no additional charge for the ones that I requested were to be with other guests. Our guide, Jaya, was knowledgeable of the animals, trees and birds in the area. We also typically had a guide with us from the local village as well who went along. Some were quite good and added to our experience. You are supposed to tip these extra guides at the end of each tour. Ask the hotel about how much is appropriate. The villagers take turns I understand as it is an additional source of income. On the first game drive in the morning, we were profoundly lucky to see a beautiful female tiger wandering up the fire break towards our vehicle. Growling as she was walking towards us, she came to within about 15 feet of our vehicle. Of course, I was so nervous that the first few pictures I took were blurry but as I composed myself, I took some great pics of this beauty. According to the guide, the growling noise was really a call to her cub who was in the area. Her cub is probably her size and maybe a year old. On other game drives throughout the few days we were there, we saw a tiger in the heavy camouflaged bushes and then the same tiger crossing the road behind us quite a ways down the road. We were often up by 530am to go on the 600am game drives. Be sure and dress warm though the hotel supplies guests with blankets and hot water bottles. Also bring a scarf along to wear over your face and nose especially if it is dry. With all of the vehicles moving about in the park, there is plenty of dust and dirt in the air. The hotel packs a nice breakfast to enjoy about 9:00am somewhere in the park, depending upon your location. They also have a breakfast area set up in the common tent before you go out, items like coffee, oatmeal, pastries. We booked safaris every chance we could but you didn't have to do them twice a day like we did. It was too cold to use the small pool - it's not like a resort pool, basically just a rectangle but I imagine in the hotter months, it is used more and is a welcome and refreshing dip. We booked through Taj Safaris but I did see availability through other hotel sites online. It might have been less expensive to book through these other sites if available but not sure if you could have meals included. Plus you would still have to contact the hotel to confirm the game drives at the appropriate time as well as organizing a transfer to the hotel. I would definitely try this experience but be warned, not everyone sees a tiger which I'm sure would be disappointing.
