Bliss in Bandhavgarh

Great resort, beautiful rooms and grounds and wonderful hosts. We were made very welcome and had a wonderful time relaxing at the resort and getting up close to the tigers in the Bandhavgarh National Park that was featured in the David Attenborough Dynasties programme Tigers. Our hosts, Neeraj, Arti and Digvijay looked after us superbly and expertly. If youre looking for expert knowledge on the animals, tracking, photography, local life, arts and crafts then look no further. Cannot recommend these lovely people highly enough. Thank you so much guys.

Just a wonderful place no words for our host an amazing couple family run property, Mr.Neeraj Pathania an explorer and wild lifer done many National Geographic films, documentaries and an interesting relations with Elephants. His wife Arti pathania a bit shy from royal to perfect organiser. Whole set up is just amazingly peaceful wilderness- birds along-with black face monkey, Sambar deer, mostly Jackals some moments you hear big cat growling. they have planning big to upgrading property ready for Oct 2020 on wards. We had great time with our safaris not lucky enough at the beginning later we saw almost all animals and Tiger in Maghdi zone and wild elephants. Actually Resort is close to all Zones you have a good advantage to go through jungle before starting your excursion by Jeep inside the Park known as core zone. One should plan all your stay and jungle excursion well in advance due to some restrictions on entry tickets gets booked quickly, we were quite lucky since been informed by Arti about whole process and we trusted them to all arrangements for us which with no regret spot on, saved my time and worry. Bagh Sarai Bandhavgarh is well connected by train and air network ( trains arrival stations nearest one 22 kmrs Umaria 70 kmrs Katni 180 kmrs from jabalpur has air connections from Delhi & Mumbai. We traveled from Khajuraho to Bandhavgarh which is 250 kmrs then further to Varanasi. We will be looking forward to their new look for future our wishes to a wonderful staff for taking care of us at best . We will be coming back to hear more stories from Mr.Pathania and laughter to share. Thank you so much for all your hospitality.
Dont be fooled by their pictures!

Dont be fooled by their pictures! I booked this property after seeing the pictures on their website and on a booking portal, reading positive reviews and after quick and qualified responses from the owner, Mr. Neeraj Pathania. I had a lot of questions regarding transfer, safaris and advance booking, all was answered quickly and in much detail, creating confidence. That was in 2017. Visiting the property in Feb/March 2019, we found it below expectations and not well maintained. The owner seems to now follow other projects, was absent and did not answer the mails of 2018 personally. They have isolated cottages, which allows for privacy and a quiet sleep. However, two houses were in ruins. One burned in a wildfire (and was not reconstructed), another one was declared pending construction. Roofs of all houses looked damaged, which was explained by a Typhoon going through a couple of days before. This may happen, but do not attribute to a relaxed and happy feeling. The fabric on the canvas was torn in many places, some of the damages looked old, see my pictures. We did not see any other damaged houses outside the property. Cows from the neighbouring villages are grazing on the premises and leave their dung, which you may find picturesque or not. Cottage inside is NOT closely as pretty as on their pictures. They do not show their bathroom and toilet on the web. Bathroom is absolutely bare, with a worn tub and a shower that consists of just the plumbing and a hole on the floor. Toilet does not have a door, but just an old curtain. While this may be also found somewhere in India, I do not consider this a three-star standard and have not found it in other hotels of this category in India. No privacy for this most private affair. Toilet seat and toilet insides disgusting, see pictures. Canvas on the inside of the cottage also torn and with stains. Food was decent, but we definitely had more variety and better quality elsewhere. No internet and telephone connection, which per se is not a must while in the jungle, but may lead to problems when organizing things. On the plus side, we can say that the owners son, temporarily managing the property, tried to make up for the shortcomings and all organizational issues including meal times and safaris went according to plan. Meals are served in an open room (African Boma style) which also needs repairs. In short, if you want to relax in a cosy atmosphere, I suggest looking for other places. We had a much better stay in Kanha at 7 Tigers resort, check my review for that. Kanha and Bandhavgarh are both good for tiger viewing, but Kanha offers more variety in landscapes including wetlands, plus the Barasinga deer that only survived in this park.
Tigers on the prowl. Amazing experience

We stayed at Bagh Sarai for 3 nights and it was a amazing experience. The resort is spread in a 11 acre plot and has just 6 bungalows in all. On top of it we were the only family staying during this period which made the experience even better. The response from the time you start your booking inquiry till the time you reach home is instant and upto the mark. They give you clear instructions about every aspect of the stay. Help with booking safaris online and advising on other aspects. We were not lucky enough to meet Mr. Neeraj as he was not present during our stay at Bagh Sarai. Bungalow is huge with a thatched roof from top and cloth lining from the inside. Its SUPER CLEAN and very well maintained. FOOD is home made and very well cooked. Do try the chicken and local style made egg plant. They make three dishes in each meal and serve it hot and with love in the lovely dinning area. Daily bonfire after the evening safari is very well managed along with the snacks and drinks. We had 3 safaris and TWO major sightings of the big cat one of which was just a few feet away from our jeep. Mesmerizing and awesome experience. Words just cant explain. Thank you Sher Bagh for everything. No qualms. Maybe we meet next time Cheers
I highly recommend the Bagh Sarai Resort.

If you would like to book safari in Bandhavgarh National Park India this is the place to do so. They booked safari for us. Also the resort is really nice. The bungalow are spacious and food is delicious. We were in the middle of summer, but the interior of the bungalow was cool, even without air-condition. Unfortunately, we had terrible problem with health during our stay, but Neeraj Pathania and his wonderful wife did they best to help us, and their hospitality has absolutely no limits. We were treated like guests. They are wonderful people to meet. To run the resort is definitely not just business for them, is the way of life.
All looks similar from inside , outside.

All the rooms are identical and good, we have opted for room no 3.
by SaurabhB69 on May 24, 2015
all the rooms aka cottages are good but It would be better to pick the room 104 or 106, for greater view to the forest around.
