On a business trip to Bengaluru, we opted to stay at the Fairfield as it was cheaper than the other options that we had available, and it was just around the corner from work. We arrived at the hotel around 3am in the morning, at the front of the hotel, our taxi was stopped by hotel security, he had to pop his bonnet, and the security guys had their dog sniff around the car, checked the boot, and they used a mirror to check under the car. This was surprising, as I've never seen security like this for hotel. Once through this, we had to have our bags x-rayed at the entrance to the hotel itself, and walk through a metal detector. Again, I've never had this at any hotel I've ever been to, but as the days went on, it quickly became apparent that his level of security was the norm for hotels, offices, some car parks, and shopping centres. Still, better to be safe than sorry. The foyer of the hotel was very nice, and we were greeted warmly by staff. Check in as a doddle, and a porter insisted on taking our luggage to our rooms. The room was pleasantly very nice, very nice indeed. I've read that some people have found them to be a bit on the small side, but, hey, I was only there is sleep, maybe relax and bit, and go to work. For me it was great, really comfy double bed, TV, aircon, bathroom with power shower that I swear blasted the top layer of skin off of me each time I showered. Plus, they supplied plenty of bottles of water (there's a mini fridge too), and there was a variety of tea and coffee. Ordering room service that first night, I was told that food would take up to 30 minutes to arrive. It arrived 45 minutes after I ordered, which was a bit perplexing, as there can't have been loads of us ordering room service at 4am, can there? Still, the food was nice (club sandwich), if a little on the cold side, the fries were also lukewarm, which leads to me believe that the meal was made with plenty of time to spare, but someone forgot to bring it up to me... WiFi was included, which surprised me, as their website says that it's only free in public areas, and that you need to pay for in-room WiFi, so I was able to make some calls back home. Breakfast was a buffet, and included some odd choices like chicken sausages and noodles. Still, it didn't throw me, I'm used to seeing such fare in hotels in China. There was cereal, fruit juices (pineapple, lychee, water melon, tomato, strangely, you could only order orange juice, it was never "help yourself"), actual real fruit, curries, salads (yeah, for breakfast!), and, if you felt that that wasn't enough, you could order fresh parathas, dosa's, or eggs. I partook in the hotel restaurants on most evenings, but I'll provide different reviews for those. However, staff were really pleasant and couldn't help enough. The hotel has a nice gym, it's not hugely stacked, there's a couple of racks of dumbbell, a few treadmills, cross trainers, and bikes. My hotel room card at first wouldn't let me in, a member of staff had to let me in, and then proceeded to show me how to use the card in the most patronising way. Okaaaay then... There's a swimming pool too, but I never actually saw anyone take a dip, perhaps it's because it's right next to one of the hotel's restaurants..? Regardless, the pool, which isn't big, looked clean and inviting. Shame I didn't bring any trunks with me... When it came to our final day at the hotel, at breakfast, a member of staff insisted on bringing us a small gift - a small slice of cake with "Bon Voyage" written in chocolate. This was very kind. The same member of staff (I can only apologise but I can't remember how to spell their name - Shankshi or Shishank(sp??)) on the evening insisted on bringing us drinks on the house. Absolutely wonderful gesture. Leaving the restaurant, staff insisted on taking selfies with us, this seemed a little odd, but I assumed it was for their Facebook page or other social media. When we finally checked out, we were presented with a printed copy of the aforementioned selfie stuck onto a card with a small keyring attached. Another very nice gesture. All in all, this is a very good hotel, but it is very much a business hotel. Location wise it was great for work, there's some shopping malls nearby too, and various street food vendors a short distance away if you have some downtime from graft. Rooms are clean, power shower is great, bed is comfortable, and they keep you well stocked with bottled water. However, it's the staff who make or break an establishment, and staff here certain made my stay more than pleasant and are a credit to Marriott. Thank you. Marriott, you have some incredible staff here, who are the very definition of customer service! Are there any downsides? Not really, other than, when you stick your room card into the power switch, the TV will auto play the exact same channel about the history of the chain EVERY. SINGLE. TIME! This got mind-numbingly tedious quickly, and it became a race to put my card in the power switch and run and change the channel before it played the video again.

This was my third time in India due to work travel, second time in Bangalore. I am a constant visitor of Marriott branded hotels. So, in general terms, the hotel is standard if you compare to other Fairfield hotels in other cities. But, you are in India, in the middle of Bangalore. Forget about standards. Tradition, great food and, the most important, people make a big difference. Room was normal. Perhaps a little bit small than expected - but nothing bad. The pool area was great. The only issue was that the pool was very cold and not easy to go into it, definitely. However, the bar area was really cool. The restaurant always had good food. A mix among Indian and Chinese food (celebrations for the Chinese new year were undergoing those days). The building has also a Courtyard and you can go to it internally through the halls. Convenient access to that restaurant is great mainly if you need service after 11pm, hour that the Fairfield restaurant is closed. However, room service was always great (try the club sandwich, very good!) What really makes the difference and delivers an outstanding stay, is the staff of the hotel. All, without exception, are really oriented to deliver a great service. They are taking care of you at every moment, in any detail. It is normal in India to find great and kind people - but in this Fairfield hotel people is outstanding. Receptionists, waiters, chefs and captains in the restaurants, bartenders, the housekeeping service. Smiles, talks, attention, notes. All make you fell very appreciated. I wanted to leave here some specific names of staffers but when I go back to those days, really any person working in the hotel was great. Impossible to only add two or three names here and miss someone. All were great! Thank you for a great staying!

I stayed at this hotel for four nights - everything went smoothly, hotel was clean, food very good and the entire hotel staff were quite friendly. Rima was present during the morning breakfast and so welcoming, a nice smile to see first thing after a 24 hour journey from the west coast US. The only thing I wish the hotel could exchange US twenty dollar bills that were produced before 2013.

I was in Bangalore for a week in early March performing some company training in the adjacent Courtyard hotel and visiting our office about a mile away. This was my first visit to India and I was rather apprehensive as I had been warned about digestive risks and the spicy food. The food at the Fairfield was uniformly delicious. The helpful waitstaff brought me new Indian dishes each time I dined, remembering what I had tried before and responding to my preferences. Many of the staff learned my name within a couple days and everyone provided a friendly greeting. BJs restaurant hosted a vast buffet for Holi and I had the chance to try some more new dishes. At other times, BJs serves european cuisine. (Travel is all about food for me. :) One of the best aspects of my stay was drinks and dinner by the pool with the soft, desert breeze. I found the room towards the small end but the bed was very comfortable and the shower, in particular, was a treat with lots of hot water. Every day I received a number of bottles of water at no charge and never needed to use tap water (which I had been warned about) for brushing my teeth or such. I have only a single complaint about my stay: When I enter my room, I insert my keycard into a slot to turn on the AC and power for the room. For reasons I cannot comprehend, Marriott have configured the TV to come on and play the same short historical add about the Fairfield family. The first time is was mildly annoying but this happens every time I enter my room and, by the end of the week, it was really tiresome. Nevertheless, I strongly recommend this hotel. The services is warm and friendly. The food is delicious.
