My mother aged 84 years, my wife & I had booked two deluxe rooms in this resort for two nights from 2-4-2015 to 4-4-2015. We were a little disappointed when we had to wade through almost 2 kms of katcha road which is fit only for jeeps & definitely not for sedans. When we checked in however, we were happy to find the rooms clean & well maintained. The staff & managers were also very courteous & helpful. Food was also tasty although there were no fresh vegetables to pluck as claimed in the website. The natural swimming pool was a disappointment. Although technically the water which is supposed to be cleaned by the weeds may be safe, it looks very dirty with all the leaves & other dirt floating on the surface. Then we found thousands of tiny fish in the pool which nibble away your skin even if you put your feet in the water. It needs a lot of courage to venture into this pool. The main problem was however when we found the rooms to be very uncomfortable because of the hot climate & the fans in the rooms were of no help since the hot air was blown by these fans even in the middle of the night. There are hardly any trees in the property & this resort is surrounded by miles & miles of dry land without much greenery. The claim that the rooms are naturally cooled is not true. They don't even have air coolers in these summer months. We just could not get any sleep in the first night & although we had paid for the second night, we checked out since we were not prepared for any more torture in this hot climate.

Must visit with friends/ kids/ families
by Kirtim23 on May 15, 2017
I travelled with my husband and two kids (age 2.5 years) with the motive of giving the village experience to my kids and be nostalgic about my own childhood. And i was bang on target- the kids had ample opportunities to play with the red soil, ride the bullock cart, touch the cows- even milk them -something that even i did first time in my life. Pottery making was another new thing for all 4 of us. There are quite a lot of village games like gilli danda, tyre race, kite flying to name a few. Rooms were tastefully done with traditional paintings in natural colours adorning the walls. Food is good. the resort has cycles available to just take short rides in the vicinity. they arrange a bon fire in the evening with Bollywood music for the party people. For the corporates - a small conference hall with capacity of 30-40 people in cluster style is available. over all a must do trip either as a night stay or as a day outing.
Wonderful place for a relaxing break from the city.

We spent two nights at the resort. There were four of us: my wife, my daughter (9 yrs), my mother in law, and myself. We booked a room with two beds. On request, the resort people arranged an extra mattress for no extra cost. This is one of the few pet friendly resorts we could find, and we were delighted to take our cat, Miu there. There were many animals in the resort including ducks, hens, turkeys, cows and dogs. The dogs were very friendly, especially a dog named Khushi. There were lots of fun outdoor games like catapults, gilli danda, kite flying, badminton, cricket and tug of war. We learnt how to spin tops too. Some of the indoor games were carrom, chess, tic tac toe, ludo, snakes and ladders and some traditional indian games. My daughter climbed trees and plucked raw mangoes. Other fun activities include bullock cart riding, pottery, rangoli and garland making. Around the resort area, there is plenty of places to walk/cycle. We did some bird-watching (peacocks, eagles, hawks and cranes). I would advice people to get up very early and go walking/cycling in the surroundings. The resort has its own bicycles which one can freely use. The food was excellent, specially the breakfast (huge spread including south-indian, north-indian and continental). The staff were all very polite and helpful, especially Mr. Raja. Suggestions for the resort management: 1) Coffee needs improvement! 2) We got our bathroom towels replaced everyday---this is not necessary---an eco-resort should definitely not do this!!! Most hotels these days put a note asking guests to indicate if they want towels changed. We hope to go back there again.
A rustic holiday experience
by RenukaNS on May 5, 2017
My family and I spent 2 days at this resort in March and had a lovely time re-connecting with our roots. We enjoyed learning pottery, playing catapult, kite flying, organic farming and milking the cows. We also got to do some cycling, garland making and some rangoli designs. It was a novel experience especially for the children who have never experienced many of these activities before. We particularly liked the way the rooms were constructed using locally sourced red mud tiles which kept the room comfortable without an AC even in the peak summer. The mud water jugs in the rooms kept the water cool all day long. Special herbal soaps were provided in the wash rooms as the water was being recycled to irrigate the plants. The staff was very friendly, attentive and made us feel completely at home! Right from the time they called to check when we were arriving and gave us detailed directions to get there to the time we checked out. They even organised a candlelight dinner by the pond....most of the staff is hired locally and are simple and down to earth. The food served is a fixed menu, but has a wide range and is very tasty. We had lunch, snacks, dinner and breakfast and enjoyed all the meals. We really enjoyed our stay here and look forward to visiting again!
A little gem away from bangalore
by Sangeetha D on April 16, 2017
Had been to ONV in August 2016 before. Had a wonderful experience then. This time around it was even better. Booked for 2 nights but ended up staying an additional day. Love the place and the open air surroundings far away from the pollution and crowd of bangalore. This place is indeed a little gem. Will be amazing during the monsoon. The staff is excellent and the buffet menu all 3 meals is exhaustive and nice. They have a bar now as well however the menu is limited. Would prefer without the bar since it is a family place. Pet friendly place which is a huge added advantage. Copious amounts of space where your pooch can roam free. Even the adopted dogs there have a great demeanor. Am sure to visit again Would only recommend the management to have a dog pond Had an excellent long weekend getaway thanks to ONV. Will go there again for sure Cheers Sangeetha, Rohan & Cherry

Stayed here over the weekend with family. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. Bathroom was clean and everything is eco friendly. On the downside is the approach road (it is a full on mud road meant for off roading) and the heat during summer. Please note that there is no AC as it is an eco friendly hotel. The service in restaurant was good. Food was just about okay, nothing great but not bad as well. The check in and check out can be better. Card machine didn't work for two days. We were informed before we landed there so we took cash but these kind of issues can be addressed to increase the overall experience. It is a bit on the costly side.
