    Poor!

    by Prakash B on 05-04-2015

My mother aged 84 years, my wife & I had booked two deluxe rooms in this resort for two nights from 2-4-2015 to 4-4-2015. We were a little disappointed when we had to wade through almost 2 kms of katcha road which is fit only for jeeps & definitely not for sedans. When we checked in however, we were happy to find the rooms clean & well maintained. The staff & managers were also very courteous & helpful. Food was also tasty although there were no fresh vegetables to pluck as claimed in the website. The natural swimming pool was a disappointment. Although technically the water which is supposed to be cleaned by the weeds may be safe, it looks very dirty with all the leaves & other dirt floating on the surface. Then we found thousands of tiny fish in the pool which nibble away your skin even if you put your feet in the water. It needs a lot of courage to venture into this pool. The main problem was however when we found the rooms to be very uncomfortable because of the hot climate & the fans in the rooms were of no help since the hot air was blown by these fans even in the middle of the night. There are hardly any trees in the property & this resort is surrounded by miles & miles of dry land without much greenery. The claim that the rooms are naturally cooled is not true. They don't even have air coolers in these summer months. We just could not get any sleep in the first night & although we had paid for the second night, we checked out since we were not prepared for any more torture in this hot climate.

  • A little gem away from bangalore

    by Sangeetha D on April 16, 2017

Had been to ONV in August 2016 before. Had a wonderful experience then. This time around it was even better. Booked for 2 nights but ended up staying an additional day. Love the place and the open air surroundings far away from the pollution and crowd of bangalore. This place is indeed a little gem. Will be amazing during the monsoon. The staff is excellent and the buffet menu all 3 meals is exhaustive and nice. They have a bar now as well however the menu is limited. Would prefer without the bar since it is a family place. Pet friendly place which is a huge added advantage. Copious amounts of space where your pooch can roam free. Even the adopted dogs there have a great demeanor. Am sure to visit again Would only recommend the management to have a dog pond Had an excellent long weekend getaway thanks to ONV. Will go there again for sure Cheers Sangeetha, Rohan & Cherry

  • Different experience

    by Jude V on April 11, 2017

Stayed here over the weekend with family. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. Bathroom was clean and everything is eco friendly. On the downside is the approach road (it is a full on mud road meant for off roading) and the heat during summer. Please note that there is no AC as it is an eco friendly hotel. The service in restaurant was good. Food was just about okay, nothing great but not bad as well. The check in and check out can be better. Card machine didn't work for two days. We were informed before we landed there so we took cash but these kind of issues can be addressed to increase the overall experience. It is a bit on the costly side.

  • Day Outing - nothing much to see or do

    by A_3_G_A on March 29, 2017

We, a group of 5, visited Our Native Village for a day outing. Took the breakfast, lunch, hi-tea package (9am-6pm). The location is clearly marked in Google maps, it was easy to reach the property, however, after reaching the entrance gate around 9, found it locked and had to call the reception to get it opened. The resort is 2.5kms away from entrance gate and it took 10 min for the security staff to reach the gate and have it opened. Found it a little strange that the security staff was missing at the checkin time. The 2.5km stretch from entrance gate to resort is a little bumpy. The breakfast was really good and tasty with lot of varieties. There are cots by the swimming pool which is great for relaxing. Beyond that, the property as such is very small to spend a whole day. There is a mini library, where there are hardly any interesting books to read. There are indoor games (snake and ladders, chess, carrom etc) and activities like shuttle, flying kites, pottery making, bullock cart ride etc. Having reached the resort around 9.30, we were bored by the time it became 11.30. Lunch served was not up to the mark. The spread and the taste both can be improved. We had to ask for many items like papad and water and some of those were not served even after asking. After having lunch, we left the resort without staying back for hi-tea as we were completely bored and disappointed with the lunch and the service during lunch.

  • Day out with family

    by Kathyayini S on March 20, 2017

With natural ambiance this resort is good for day out. We were 12 members with a baby reached this place at 9.30 for welcome drink followed with breakfast. There was games & activities based on village theme. Good lunch & had high tea in evening before leaving.

  • Relived the back old days

    by Kishore K on March 17, 2017

Spend 1 night in the "our native village resort". The Location is very remote and approach is little difficult to find. But this expected from this resort. As it was village resort. The staff was very courteous and the food was homely. We enjoyed wide spread buffet for the lunch and Dinner. My 3-year-old son enjoyed the bullock cart ride. Only cons; The night we were there the staff and managers partied on the poolside. There had broken some beer bottle and they did not clean the mess. The morning when we went near poolside to play we noticed it. Thankfully nothing happened to my family. But I like to caution them to be little careful and clean mess. Over all it was very good outing.
