  • Warm and a Beautiful Homestay

    by KhushbooTulsiani on

Staying at Rana uncles place (Rana Swiss Cottages) is going to take you back in time, to a place where we learn to acknowledge the 'gifts' of nature and gratitude towards everything around us. One of the first homestays in Jibhi valley, Rana uncle literally was amongst the pioneer to put Jibhi on the tourist map. Rana uncle is an avid organic farmer who walks the walk and makes the stay memorable and his farm tours arent to be missed. Through the farm walk we stuffed our faces with fruit, raw vegetables and homemade pickles and jams that Rana uncle offered :) This could be a great learning experience for those interested in sustainable living and organic farming. Rana uncle has lots of experiences to share. He embodies the spirit of sustainability and showcases how it can be seamlessly made a part of our own lives. Just through our short stay we could experience the dedication of the host towards a sustainable lifestyle. As nature lovers and enthusiasts this was amazing and inspirational for us. I would have loved to write a lot more in the review, but I believe that it is up to each one to experience the warmth of Rana Swiss Cottages in their own way. What mesmerised us was Rana uncles zeal towards spreading his message of living with nature. We are definitely coming back again, this time for a longer and more engaging experience. The place definitely delivers what it promises with no false claims and the experience leaves you with a lesson or two on sustainable living. Highly recommended. Thank you for hosting us!

On reading other reviews and after speaking to Mr.Rana, I thought it would be right decision to stay at Dolli Guest H. I booked only a week in advance, and when I reached, the place was completely locked. After few phone calls, a staff came to show the place, which was smelly and messy due to probable upcoming renovation work (which I was Not informed earlier). I obviously could not have stayed here, where the kitchen was also shut and I was told the food will be delivered from the other property. Part B : Mr.Rana has another property as Rana's Swiss Cottages . Since Dolli GH was a complete disappointment and I had paid some advance I thought I can stay at the cottages instead. The cottages had a nice feel, overlooking the valley and peaceful with a nice organic garden . The rooms have basic mattress n bed, 3-4 blankets, the bukhari heater and a table .The washroom was very clean with geyser. However, the rates do not justify for a place like Jibhi and that too without Breakfast and meals. I was told most of the staff were out for next few months. There were only 2 staff (Mohan + another) and helped as much possible. Coming to food - I really cannot recommend other than the parathas . Stayed for 3 N and had to ask for house keeping after 2 days. My point is if services and facilities are affected due to less staff or season , so should the rates .The rates should also be reduced. Place is safe and Mr.Rana is very helpful. I just wish I was better informed what to expect .

This was my third time staying in this magical place. i have been coming here for 12 years now. Doli guest house is everything you can imagine when you dream of a place in nature to rest in. The rooms are very clean, and well equipped. Hot shower when ever you want it, and and incredible view without having to get out of bed. The bed was by far the very best one i've slept on in india. Rana, and Gudu and the entire staff were so friendly and helpful. They really made me feel like home and made sure i had everything i needed. For those of you who like hiking, Rana and Gudu know this area like the backs of their hand and offer also tracking expeditions in the area. The food is of very high quality and many of the ingredients come fresh from their gardens. They even have home made bread! The guest house is surrounded by a garden with beautiful flowers and butterflies, and the river flows just below, filling the air with the sound of flowing water. i really can't wait to come back here. If you only visit one place in india- This should be it

  • Nice stay in a quaint place in Tirthan Valley

    by KathakaliC on

Location is good, so are the cottages. Housekeeping and cleanliness could have been much improved. Food is good. The nearby attractions are Jalori Pass, a 5 km trek to Saryolsar Lake, picturesque view from Raghupur Fort and a quick visit to Great Himalayan National Park. The hospitality offered by Gudu and Rana Saab was priceless.

  • Great stay

We reached the place at midnight and the kind of service we received from Prem and Guddu was incredible. They tucked us in a warm and cosy room, heaters, hot water bags et al. Extraordinary service. Cutest swiss cottages and great food. HIghly recommended.

  • We stayed in the Swiss Cottage. It has a nice balcony and the room is warm and clean.
