Visited for a 2 night stay with my wife during the 30-sep to Oct 2 due to long weekend. 1. We reached the property using a Auto Rickshaw from the Hospet Junction Train Station and costed us 400 INR one way for a 20KM ride. Drop was facilited by the JLR jeep which was 600 INR. I preferred the JLR Jeep over auto since the ride is safer and a better mode of travel in the dark . 2. Rooms are spacious and are private with good bedding and ample facilities. Property is generally maintained well but with some tolerable plumbing and electrical issues. Given that the JLR property is located inside or close to forest areas, the ambiance is ideal for nature lovers with millions of stars in the night. We specifically asked for cottage 10 which is at the end of the property and generally attracted lots of birds due to its location. One can safely walk inside the property since it is gated. During night we saw lots of star in the sky. Maybe a nice place for Astro-photography. 3. Food was excellent. Staff is really humble and hospitality is at its best even in comparison to the 7 of the other JLRs that I have been to. Special thanks to Basil, Ravi, Rakesh, Venkatesh and many other staff members who do exhibit great patience when it comes to guest service. The service was spot on from the time my booking started and until the last minute we left the property. 4. Safaris, bird watching and the hampi visit are the highlights to this resort activities. 5. The safari is in a jeep to the Daroji Sloth bear sancutary. One can observe the sloth bears in their natural yet human influenced environment from a safe distance in the watch tower which needs a bit of a climb of around 100 steps. Bears can be seen from far distance and recommend carrying your own binocular with good magnification. We also saw a ruddy mongoose, several peacocks, painted spurfowl and a wild boar. On way to the sancutary is a reserved forest where we spotted several species of birds like painted sandgrouse, bay backed shrike, Indian Robin, Francolins , peacocks, Baya Weaver, Ashy crowned sparrow Lark, Rock Eagle Owl, Jungle Quail, Rufous Tailed Lark. I was informed that there are leopards in the area but we were not so lucky to spot one. 6. Bird Watching can also be done within the JLR property or near to the Tungabadra canal area. The highlight of JLR property is the numerous Painted Sandgrouses and Quails. Also saw the yellow capped woodpecker, Small Minivets, Hoopooes, Laughing doves, Spotted Doves, Shrikes, Painted Spurfowl, Indian Nightjar (not spotted but could hear many). The canal area is a known for Rock Eagle Owls and Honey Buzzard. Sorry but we did trouble the owls a lot to get some good snaps in the morning day light. In summary we spotted close to 50+ species of birds. 7. Heritage visit is in the Hampi ruins. It was good to visit the stone chariot and the lotus mahal. It is generally hot during the temple visit recommend carrying water bottles. All in all a memorable trip for me and my wife. Cannot wait to visit again.

Via a friend we met Hussen, and we found out what a great touristy guide he is! We were shop fortunate that he was free the next day, so we booked him for that day. Hussen showed us around to places that tourists hardly visit, and he shared the most amazing stories about the temples and more. Highly recommended! Amazing, Natural environment. Cottages spread out, very private but with extremely basic amenities. Inside, the rooms are dark with old dated tapestry. Overall the place could do with a major facelift. If you dislike creepy crawlies in the room, this place is not for you. The food however, is amazing and sumptuous with excellent variety. The dining area is bright, airy and a delight to eat your meals in. The guides are very helpful and knowledgeable. The Manager Mr. Rahul is friendly and cooperative. A peaceful place located in a natural habitat.

This is probably one of the best seasons to visit hampi, perfect weather! We opted to stay at Jungle lodges this time as we could get a combination of both wildlife and to see the heritage city. The safari was amazing, we got to see many birds and few sloth bears from the viewing point. Our guide was very co-operative and friendly during the whole journey. The second day they took us to the see hampi city, everything was very well planned. The food was very homely and the staff were very courteous. A very pleasant experience overall!

The cabins are very spacious and with sustainable energy from their own solar panels, and are not over crowded, giving a good sense of privacy and tranquillity. They are set in a lovely area of scrub forest with lots of butterflies, lizards and other wildlife. The bird watching tour was excellent and the guide was very knowledgeable, as was the bear safari. The Hampi tour included transport and entrance costs for all the parts you need to pay for, but not a tour guide, which you need to hire yourself when you get there if you want one. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, although not all spoke English and I found it was a bit unclear from booking what was included and what the schedule was for the activities. The food was also slightly hit-and-miss. Overall I think it was excellent value for money. I had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend HHWR to others.
