This review is about the restaurant and not about the hotel, as i have been there for lunch only. The location is fantastic, closer to all major attractions, added advantages are two ATMs,one antique shop at the ground floor and easy availability of guides. talking about restaurant, its one of the branches of Mango tree. Thus you will get similar seating and food. Its veterinarian place. Food i believe is made from scratch, you can even look inside the kitchen ( its clean). Indian, Asian, European and Continental Food is available. we ate noodles, palak paneer, roti, and it was delicious with big portions. Prices are reasonable if you compare with metro city like Mumbai , and a bit pricey for hampi standards. Very clean place to eat and relax before you proceed for another attraction. Though its clean place to seat and eat, it has a bad washroom. What i could gather by looking at the hotel and from my guide that rooms here are very basic and may not be suitable for families with kids.

Firstly, it is only fair to point out that they were very helpful with arranging a taxi from the Hospet train station to their hotel. However, as we started our cab ride, I was asked kindly if I would like the AirConditioning on to which I happily said YES too. On arriving at the hotel I was told I had to pay 100 rupees more for it! (cab ride was 500 originally). What I didn't like was that the hotel has a set of rickshaw drivers outside that are supported by the hotel in cheating you. Rides are an average of 150 rupees and they try and ask you for 300 saying they have to "come back empty". a) they don't have to come back to the hotel, they do operate from across the area. b) during the journey they insist on taking you via a route and telling u how you should stop and see the spots along the way too and then charge you extra for waiting for you. Please be aware, you can easily finish one side of Hampi in one day! The other side of the river is primarily if you want to just sit and relax at the restaurants...(there is no alcohol served currently on either side)

Within a few days of booking a room in Hampi Bazaar, the Indian Government ruled that all businesses in that area must cease, in line with a court ruling. This left us with a problem as we had already booked and paid for our bus tickets. We were contacted by Hotel Varshna who offered us a place at their hotel. Kamalapura is on the southern edge of Hampi World Heritage site. It was 500 rupees more than we had originally planned to pay but it was worth it. There were local business people and tourists in tears down in Hampi Bazaar because of the confusion so we are really grateful for Hotel Varshna to help out. They arranged for a tuk-tuk to meet us from the bus stand. The restaurant was very good and the rooms were spacious and well equipped. The service was brilliant. Accept that this is not Hampi Bazaar and that it is more expensive than you would have paid there but It was money well spent in my opinion

The place is average. We ended up paying Rs2000 per night for AC room, during a long holiday weekend which was way overpriced for this place. The staff was courteous and check-in and checkout was hassle free. They took booking over phone without advance and did hold the booking till very late on a very busy weekend which was indeed great. The place has both four wheeler and two wheeler parking. Hotel is around 5 km from Hampi Bazar street and Hampi ruins. Carry your toiletries as they provide only towels. You might have to ask for change of sheets and towels. The wifi is slow as a snail and unreliable.

Located next to the Kamalapur Bus-stand, opposite to the Police Station, beside the Highway, in a Building which houses Two ATMs and close to two Restaurants, with the option of choosing amongst Clean, Spacious, 16 AC and non AC rooms, with attached washroom, this is a good Stay for families on the overnight run or even a day or two extra. Auto rickshaws and guides available nearby to go to Hampi which is about 4 kms away. Nothing too great but serves it's purpose. Free Wifi is the icing on the cake. Car Parking is available in the open space before the building and is well lit. Cheers!
