It is a blessing to have this hotel in Belur, so close to Chennakesava swamy temple. The hotel is owned by KSTDC (Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation) and the stay / ambience / staff are awesome. Good food and spacious parking space available too. You can also visit Halebeedu from here (around 20KM).

I was surprised a govt organization can provide such services. We were late in reaching the hotel hence we called the number provided. He was so polite and even advised to come slowly, not to rush, to take care. Even at the time of checkin, Sri krishna expressed his helpless of not providing ground floor after seeing my mother. He apologized for it. He ensured that our stay for comfort. He provided bed coffee as my mother cannot come down frequently and also served her breakfast at the room. Thanks KSTDC. also you have wonderful staff.

As every local Indian traveller will know, throughout the country there are numerous State-run hotels, usually with the prefix Mayura. They serve a very valuable purpose, offering generally good-standard accommodation at modest tariffs. The Hotel Velapuri is no exception. It is well set back from the busy main road, and the Reception building and cottage units /rooms are surrounded by mature trees and pot-plants. The verandah area immediately in front of some of the units is very attractive.. We arrived just before noon, and enter the Reception area. No-one is on duty, but I find a young lady preparing rooms for the next lot of guests. She rustles up the Manager, who, it turns out, is upstairs. Fair enough: he can't be everywhere at once, and probably figures that in the middle of the day there won't be many guests arriving. But how about installing a bell on the Reception desk, so that Management knows when guests have arrived. It's a small point, but really it's not a good start when you find yourself having to search out staff who can. provide assistance. The cottage which i occupied was spacious, with good a/c and a comfortable bed. I slept well here. However, there are few places to store clothes other than the floor, so the installation of a shelf would be beneficial, especially given there is plenty of space to do this. On the other hand, the wardrobe is fine for hanging clothes. The bathroom is quite spartan, with few accessories. However, it is a nice touch to include a couple of sachets of Mysore sandalwood soap. Most mid-price Indian hotels these days include toilet paper, but the Mayura chain has yet to realise this. As a Foreigner, I always carry some, but in the 21st century, that shouldn't be necessary. So, this hotel has many good features, and with minor adjustments, could be a very good place to spend the night in Velapuri

Was pleasantly surprised. Rooms were clean and spacious. Bathrooms neat. Temple is just a 10 min walk. Restaurant is quite decent with adequate options available. I even watched a Premier League game as they have a good listing of channels :)

It was a pleasant surprise staying at this hotel during the trip to Shravanabelagola, Belur, & Halebidu. At a distance of 700 mts Belur temple is at walk able distance. The rooms are specious, neat & clean and well maintained. Bathrooms has geyser and also clear. The restaurant is attached and has decent options for food. For dinner order needs to be placed before 8:30 and room service is available. Overall a very nice experience. Special mention goes the manager of this place Mr. Mahadevaswamy. The pictures attached are from room no 101 which is a delux no AC room.
