Our visit to Bhavani Villa Palace at Danta was a lovely, memorable experience for us. The generous hospitality and affection of HH.Maharaja Mahipendra Singh ji and HH Maharani Chandra ji made us feel like royals during those couple of days spent with them like a part of the family. Maharaja and Maharani joined us for lunch and dinner,in their elegant dining hall.We had a nice time, discussing various topics, learnt a lot from them about horses, listening to interesting anecdotes. The Palace is on a hillock, calm place surrounded by hills with picturesque view of old palace and forest and hills around. The company of all lovely affectionate dog friends,Jenny..the wolf like husky, Stella the pretty Golden retriever and Alsa the Labrador kept us entertained in the morning time. Visiting their Marwari stud farm and agricultural farm in the evening was very interesting.Having high tea with the Royal couple with talks about their life and anecdotes was very engrossing. We also visited the Ancient Shiv temple with them and had morning Breakfast on the open Terrace with them. The view was picturesque. The Danta.. Bhavani Villa Palace is a must visit for those wanting a home away from home in the lap of nature.

If you want to experience the genuine charm of an aristocratic house, Bhavani villa is for you. Welcomed by the Maharaja and the Maharani of Danta, you will enjoy the delights of a magical view over the valley and hills, delightful teas times at the farm lower in the valley or horse-riding for the most adventurous, wonderful walks through the hills and jungle where you will be able to admire the beautiful flora and fauna (tracks of young leopard were visible for the most observant), not to mention the exquisite cuisine of our hostess, served on the amazing terrace of the main house. Rooms were very clean and service impeccable. All ingredients to a wonderful experience, and truly memorable stay.... Again a very big thank you to our lovely hosts. The Walker family, France

Myself and 2 friends recently stayed at the villa, home of the Maharaja and Maharani of Danta, after finishing our tour of Gujarat, and on our way to Rajasthan. Danta is a good half way point betweeen say Udaipur and Ahmedabad. They are lovely hosts, taking us to the farm in the afternoon to see the horses and tea in the garden. Later, dinner in the dining room was a real treat, photos and treasures that line the main hall to the dining area are very interesting. Hot water for tea/coffee was delivered in the morning prior to breakfast, and breakfast itself was served on the outside terrace, with views over Danta town and surrounding countryside. Rooms are simply furnished, but very clean and tidy. A great experience highly recommended.

It's a great place to visit, very appropriate for 2 night weekend stay. The place is very peaceful n you get fresh air all the time, amidst Aravali Hills, situated on a small hill. Huge super Deluxe room, well decorated with all basic amenities. Being situated in Gujarat, they serve non veg food which is very much appreciated. Food tastes really good and also variety is served. Most appealing thing is that they have meals with their guest's. This was really really very appreciative. There is not very much to do there, they take you to their huge farm, Beautiful garden where u have eveningtea with them,u can do Horse riding, see all their pets and just roam around. You get a good sleep, wake up with the morning Aarti of the nearby temple, that's very soothing.

The guesthouse, in a separate building across the courtyard from the family residence, is attractive and comfortable. Light, airy, old family photos and objects in it. You walk up a flight of stairs to get to the guest rooms. The rooms front a hallway and a nice open-air sitting area. My room was large, with a comfortable bed, effective air conditioning, sitting area, huge balcony overlooking the town below, the old palace, and the distant Aravali Hills. The bathroom/dressing area was large but while the sink and bathtub area are clean, there are older rust-stained areas. There's an enclosed (with shower curtain) shower over a large bathtub with a spongy feel as you stand in it. I saw two other rooms: another large one in a corner of the building, and a slightly smaller room with two single/twin beds. They all are attractive traditional accommodation. In the morning, music from the nearby HinduTemple fills the air. What a great start to the day!! The evening's dinner was served in the dining room of the family residence. It was delicious, one of the few memorable (for the right reasons!) meals in two weeks in Gujarat. Breakfast was served open-air on the large outside terrace. Compliments to the chef and server. At both meals, we (guests and guides) were joined by the Maharana and Maharani. Note that booking at Bhavani Villa provides not just a 'stay" but a wonderful, unique experience and insight into local life. The Maharani, Chandra Kumari, is a very lovely, interesting gracious lady who will accompany you to some of the nearby villages, where the royal family has known the local families for many, many yrs. You 'll see a small temple with the terra-cotta miniature horses across from one small farm; in another villages, local farmers, families, etc. After this, you can the farm which houses the Maharajah's beloved and beautiful Marwari horses. The afternoon I went, we had tea at the farm, but i'd spent so much enjoyable time in the village, that by the time we reached the horse farm, the horses were stabled for the night. Other guests saw the horses the proviso night, and said they are unique--famous for their ears! In the guest house, you'll see photos of them. Thanks to Maharana Mahipendra Singh for his interesting, informative comments about Gujurat (as well as his dry sense of humor) to Maharani Chandra Kumari for her gentle and welcoming presence, and to their hardworking friendly staff for a memorable visit on my last night in Gujarat. Maintaining a place like this has huge challenges, but know that the effort of the owners and staff is appreciated! If your'e in the fascinating state of Gujarat, in the area near the border with Rajasthan (Mt Abu or Udaipur), consider this unique stay in Danta, in northern Gujurat. Here ,you'll have a real, "untouristy" feel of India and its people, which you won't get in the same way, in busier, very large, tourist-oriented cities.
