The manager is very helpful and helps with finding the best and economical solution for what you want to do and see. We inquired about the Rat Temple and he gave the options to take the local bus, rickshaw or taxi. We used the taxi but ended up with him taking us there (He did bring his cousin without consulting us though) for 1200 rupees. Since our train was leaving at 7:20, we asked him to arrange a rickshaw for us. He again ended up taking us to the train station 5km from Bikaner. No hot showers! The room (201) had a shower but only with cold water. The manager had to turn on the hot water (took approximately 25 min) so we could use a bucket to wash ourselves with warm water.

Stayed two nights with four friends. Rooms were basic and clean and common to budget hotels in these smaller cities the bathroom facilities are basic but functional. The rooftop restaurant was open to the city view and offers decent food and cold beverages at a very modest price. Staff went out of their way to assist in many ways. Highly recommended for BUDGET travellersm

Located next to train station. Cheap option but bad value for money. Trains honking from early morning to late night. Cold shower. Dirty room and bathroom. Only one person speak English. Food OK but long time to wait for your dish.

I was choosing Jamna Vilas Guest House on purpose. Main reasons were price and location. I'm traveling on a budget and the location is just perfect to discover Bikaner and still be close to train stations and bus stops. Old town and Junagarh Fort are in walking distance which is a big plus. Going to Karni Mata (the rat) temple was very easy and the owner Rinku gave advise to just go for local bus instead of booking tour or taxi. Price for one way was just 35 rps. from Ambedkar Circle Bus Stop. Besides that he gave good recommendation for tuktuk prices and onward travelling without trying to sell tours as I read in other reviews. The guest house itself is operated by the family and after getting to know each other there was a nice atmosphere and everybody was caring a lot. The rooftop restaurant has a nice view and the prices are fair, quality is good. The rooms are spacious, towels and toilet paper are provided as well. if not in the room just ask... regarding noise ... actually the guest house is situated perfectly - away from the busy streets which is a big plus and on the other hand, yes train station is near but you will hear the trains also in 2 km distance so that's no issue at all For me it was a nice stay in Bikaner and even after check-out I was able to leave my luggage until my train was leaving late at night. Thanks to Rinku and the whole team!

Arriving at the accommodation can be a bit of a shock but don't be discouraged by the slightly dilapidated entrance. We were upgraded free of charge due to some questionable odors from our bathroom. The manager came and apologized and all of the staff helped us move our bags. The vegetarian food we had from their roof top restaurant was without fault - although don't be surprised to wait 30/40 minutes for a meal depending on what you order! Relax and enjoy a reasonably priced beer and remember you are on Indian time now. The location of the guest house is great, very central to the town- a 10/15 minute walk to the old market and spice market as well as many little convenience stalls. Whilst the location does have its pro's - it is close to the train station - which can result in middle of the night hooting making you feel like you have missed your own train! If you are a light sleeper pack earplugs! Free water was provided on check out which was a bonus!
