The intriguing factors about Binsar which attract tourists from all over the country are its natural beauty and diverse wildlife. This is a small town located in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. Because of its salubrious climate, Binsar was a summer retreat for the Chand rulers from the 11th to 18th centuries. Situated at an elevation of 2412 m above sea level, it is an ideal destination for adventure lovers. Tourists can go on endless walks on the calm trails of Binsar which provide rejuvenation to the senses.
Among attractions in the town, the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is the most prominent. This sanctuary is blessed with 200 bird species like Eurasian Jay, Forktail, Blackbird, Laughing Thrush, Kalij Pheasant, Nuthatch, Parakeet and Monal. Hence, the region has been declared as an 'Important Bird Area' by Bird Life International. Himalayan Bear, Leopard, Fox, musk Deer, Langur, Porcupine, Flying Squirrel, Chital and Jungle Cat are commonly seen animals in this sanctuary.
Apart from the Wildlife Sanctuary, Binsar tourist places also include places like Khali Estate, Mary Budden Estate, Binsar Mahadev Temple and Kasar Devi Temple. Tourists travelling in this scenic place can also visit some archaeological spots like the Binsar Sanctuary Museum.
Binsar is famous for offering magnificent panoramic views of the mighty Himalayan Ranges as the town is perched on top of the Jhandi Dhar Hills.
