  • A quaint property desperately requiring care

    by mandal_kunal on

We heard about this resort from many of our friends. Also, it had got media attention due to its unique features such as, emu, quail, vegetable farming alongside the hospitality. As the COVID19 lock down was being eased we decided a family outing towards end of Sept. Availability of accommodation was confirmed over phone. An early morning nearly 4 hr journey from Barrackpore was not very hectic. However, the first pinch you will feel due to indifference at the reception office. Later we felt the service was below average. Simple task of getting clean towels and soap could be accomplished after several requests to the service people, reception, and to the owner! The property has provided employment to several local people. However, they are hardly trained. Hence, they are not competent to serve the guests properly. The property is uniquely located beside Jaypur forest. However, none tried to highlight this to the guests. I could not get proper guidance to visit the forest. We stayed in a room in the main building. The washroom door was not properly fixed and allowing enough space to infringe one's privacy! If you are traveller like us and wish to spend secluded time amidst nature, better avoid this place. It is best suited for: 1) young gangs to spend some time among themselves, 2) a big group who wishes to go away from city but do the similar daily activities and 3) professionals doing regular touring at this region (as many good facilities are nt available). The present owner seemed happy with the easy money they are earning from this. However, the property could have been excellent with just little care. I would love to see that turn around. But, not sure how long one has to wait for that!!!

  • Hospitality with very personal touch

It was by chance we came to know of this place and landed there over weekend. We had room 45 and was surprised to find a room which is the size of two standard hotel rooms. there was a large bathroom and a dining room. The veranda was also great place for dining. The most interesting part of the allocation of a local women to tend to our needs. She is super alert and always at our beck and call. No demand are a stress and she goes to the extra length to fulfil every desire. The food were all local produce including the rice, chicken, mutton and yes Emu. Cooking was good and we ended over-eating. The resort is on a huge farm and is a pleasure to venture around. All rooms have private parking. Totally value for money and a surprise

If you are tired and bored with your routine life in the concrete jungle, but can't find a place at your easy reach and pocket friendly... come to Banalata Resort, Joypur, Bankura. Vast area with maintained gardens and lovely wide choice of foods. You can simply relax or can also visit some of the old but famous temples of Bishnupur.

It takes nearly 4 hours drive to reach this place from Kolkata. A mini village is created by the side of Joypur forest.Plenty of cottages with modern amenities are available. Food are excellent and authentic Bengali cuisine and all are produced at their firm which you can see inside the campus. In the day shift most of workers are Tribal women of nearby villages and they work hard to keep the reputation of the resort high. You can hire a TOTO to travel inside the Joypur forest which has a fantastic scenic beauty.A perfect place for week end trip.
