The room was clean and the location was good. However, thats where it ends. The rooms cost twice as much as comparable rooms across the street. When I requested help with my suitcase, all of a sudden he had a bad back. When I asked that he print out my boarding pass, suddenly the printer was no longer working. Also, the owner shuts off the wifi and the electric at every opportunity and you have to request that they turned on. When I returned to my room this evening, had locked me out and would not unlock the room until he was paid in advance. When I requested to pay the next day upon checkout,p because I had to retrieve my credit card from a store at which I had inadvertently left it, he ordered me to leave forthwith. This turned out to be serendipidous because I found the same tyoe of room at helf the price with lovely and hospitable owners right across the street. Did I mention that he locks all the doors at 10pm?

We felt safe and the place was clean, but services and choices were at a minimum. Example: Coffee in the morning involved a pot of fairly hot water and a jar of Nescafe which you were welcome to help yourself to. the room was clean and comfortable.

While not elegant, this is a fine place to stay for one or two nights while exploring Bundi. Our welcome was gracious and we were given a choice of rooms. We chose one on the second floor in the "modern" wing (18th century) with larger windows to get more light, rather than what might have been a more romantic heritage room in the older building. the room itself was large and spacious with an air conditioner that was efficient and not too loud as well as two ceiling fans. The furniture and wall hangings were tasteful; if anything, there might have been too much furniture since, in addition to the beds (two twin beds pushed together and not a king or queen bed), there was an overstuffed couch and two arm chairs, a sideboard, a table, and a clothes closet. The couches and chairs were comfortable enough, but the mattresses and pillows not as much, but we did get an OK sleep. Breakfast was very basic - porridge, corn flakes, toast, chocolate muffin, banana, orange, and juice. Filling, but not gourmet and lots of carbs. The internet connection was very slow with limited bandwidth. The owner was very nice, fun to chat with, and freely shared information about the hotel, the town, and its history. The location was good - especially since the rooms were set back from the street and away from its dust and noise. Given what else we saw in town, I'm not sure you will do any better than this - and you can probably do a lot worse.

Firstly the haveli is utterly beautiful with incredible views. Everywhere in the hotel is decorated with beautiful paintings, sculptures and art work, so much colour! So much to look at. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive, especially the two boys in blue. The menu is limited but is fuss-free, the food is delicious and is all one really needs as they put much effort into each dish, lovely spices etc. The room was remarkable, incredibly spacious and equally as decorated as the rest of the hotel.. plus facing the palace!! My suitcase is covered in all sorts of silly stickers and really loved seeing that one of the boys added an official one from the haveli onto my case when we were departing. A sweet touch. What a dream it would be to have serval months to spend here.. There's even a swinging bench in the inner courtyard!

This is a very special place to stay. A beautiful serene building which is the family home of two serene brothers. We were in one of the older rooms nearer the road and warned about the noise, but the traffic stops early and starts late so noise was not a bother and the room was lovely. Lots of nice places to sit and gaze up at the palace when you want a quiet break from wandering the streets of this amazing town. The breakfasts might be poor - we never tried one and anyway this seems par for the course for Rajasthani hotels - but there are places nearby which do fine ones. And the hot water might be erratic, but then this isn't a holiday inn, it's much much better than that.
