The location of the hotel was excellent and looks good from inside having a big compound with empty grounds. the stay was for two days with family and there was lots of places for morning walks. The staff of the hotel was not supportive and food served in the hotel was not good and has limited options. The rooms were neat and clean. However, at that time the place was full. place was calm and quite.

It has been quite a while, in the early 2000s (I've forgotten the date), that I visited Chaukori with my family. Noticing a small signpost at Udiyari Bend, we bumped into Aangan Resort at sunset after a futile search for a hotel in Chaukori to spend the night. KMVN was fully booked and was offering tents which was not suitable for us. The other hotels were more of the dhaba type, which provides night shelter to truckers. Watching the wonderful sunrise over the mountain tops was our main reason for visiting Chaukori. From the looks of it, Aangan Resort looked like it had been recently constructed. The owner, an ex army man, confirmed the fact the next morning. After negotiating the room rent, we took to our rooms, which though a bit small, were clean and comfortable. The attached bathroom had a problem of water collecting on the floor due to the wrong alignment of the floor with the outlet. The extremely courteous resort owner assured us that he would have the problem sorted out at the earliest. After we put up in the evening, we were served tea. Dinner comprised of warm rotis and lip smacking egg curry, the taste of which lingers on my tongue even to this day. The staff, all local people, were very decent and helpful. They woke us up while it was still dark. We went to the rooftop, where chairs had already been laid out, while the other guests joined to have a view of the magnificent sunrise. After a little while, morning tea was served there. We left the resort after having a breakfast of poori sabzi. The resort owner didn't even have a visiting card which we could give to our friends who were visiting the place. He wrote down the address and phone number of his resort on a small piece of paper. We knew that comfort that we are accustomed to in the plains might not be available in high altitudes. Also, we were staying for just one night. So we were not disappointed. On the contrary, we were quite satisfied at the simplicity and warmth of the owner and staff. I definitely recommend this place to visitors.
