What's Good: Staff
What needs to improve : Room, Tariff and ambiance of the rooms
Reason For Rating : The rooms in this hotel are in pathetic condition. The hotel staff are good and friendly. That is only the positive i can say. Not at all worth for the money spent. Had a bad stay in this hotel at Chidambaram.

Good location to visit The Temple. Reasonable for a night or two. While the hotel is in need of enhancement and modernisation, services can still be improved - towels, bed linen etc do not have to be brownish and appear as if not replaced in years.

Toilet was in disrepair. Toilet seat was broken. The glass partition for bath area was coming off and closing was difficult. Towels were threadbare and so old. But the staff were very friendly and behaved nicely. TV in the room didn't have much choice to watch. Even the nice staff will not be the incentive to make me stay there the next time. So disappointing.

I went with my wife and daughter for a 3 day trip to Chidambaram by Car from Chennai. I already booked a non-AC room which was available from 28 to 31th Dec. 2017. To begin with it is a budget hotel and a old hotel. It has a spacious car park and it is exactly opp. the Chidambaram Bus Stand. In so far as Chidambaram is concerned it is not as developed as Cuddalore, hot place, air pollution and bad roads with dusts flying, and there are very few options to stay and almost all are 1star/2star category hotels. This hotel has a veg. restaurant in the front which is clean and better as compared to Anu pallavi non-veg AC restaurant at the back which is untidy especially the tables and chairs need a change since it is dirty. The food quality is good but the ambience inside the restaurant is not attractive and it appears unclean and doesn't feel comfortable to eat. If you do not have much expectations you can stay here. The temple is about half a kilometre from the hotel. Same route distance and travel time from Chidambaram are (1) Sirkazhi temple is 25 kms away (40 mins drive), (2) Vaitheeswaran koil is about 30 kms away ( 50 mins drive), (3) poompuhar beach (40kms) (1 hour drive). Another route is pichavaram mangrove forest (boat ride) is about 15 kms away (20 mins. drive), Another route is bhuvanagiri (birth place of sri raghavendrar) is about 9 kms away (15 to 20 mins drive).Another route is Cuddalore 45kms 1 hour drive,. these are all the places to visit. The women staff in the reception are not cordial and they have no idea as to how far the sightseeing places are and in which direction to proceed. The security staff was able to guide us as to how to proceed to each place. If you are going from chennai to chidambaram better to go via ECR road since the other route upto dindivanam is ok but from panruti to chidambaram is horrible.

The plus point is it is very close to the main bus stand in Chidambaram. so when we reached late night by bus, it was just a stones throw and we walked it up. It is also close to the railway station. The room was spacious and the bath was clean too. Service was a bit lethargic. Complimentary breakfast had veg items. Service in restaurant was good. Newer hotels are nearby too. But this place was recommended for family stay and ease of travel. It is a busy place ,so its quite safe too for night walks. A theatre is nearby. Street food is also awesome, available, if one likes to experiment with parotta, kothu parotaa etc. We had to visit nearly Nataraja temple (10 min walk), poompuhar (by bus-2 hrs),Pichavaram mangrove forests (by bus-less than an hour,auto/car-1/2 hour) Sirkazhi Vaitheeswaran temple (1-1 1/2 hours away by bus). All this was possible as this hotel was close to bus stand! Veg hotels are nearby and they serve till 11pm.
