Went to Athithi Homestayon first week of Jul 2018, It's a vast area of 250 acres of Coffee estate and you may feel sometime that you are driving through wrong route, as you will not find any direction or signages. Old building, may be in British period but cant feel it. Some magazines available in the book shelves and it would remind your college or school days in late 90s!! Google map will point you owners home so if you want to save time then please type Sanehadlu estate. Be ready to pay extra if you take your driver along with your family. Maintenance of the homestay is not up to the mark, even the toilet mug also broken. Well, the Homestay is economical and view & surroundings are really good. Thumps up: Krishna good cook & caretaker with smile.

We,a group of 16 stayed at Athithi homestay. To view this location in google maps, you would have to type Sanehadlu estate and not athithi homestay. Pros: 1. Food was awesome. Krishna rocked with his cooking and hospitality 2. Rooms were well maintained. The bungalow and the surrounding areas were also good. 3. Surrounded by coffee plantation and a 3 km trek would take you to Hirekolale lake, another beautiful spot. Cons: 1. Owner is too money minded and was only concerned about the payment, did not even have the courtesy to check how we were doing. 2. Because of the owner's personal requirement, we were asked to pay the amount (only in cash) a day prior to our checkout date. Moreover we were asked to come near the owner's place to make the payment. It cost us quality time. The homestay is good, food and hospitality of Krishna deserves a mention, but if you would want to stay there peacefully, you would have to clearly set the terms with the owner much before checking in. On our last day, Krishna asked us about our stay and told us that he wished we returned, whereas the owner was eager to check when we would checkout so as to let the next group check in Would have given a three star if not for Krishna and his team.

I stayed here 3 nights and it is an amazing experience. The coffee estate of 120 acres located closed to famous hills which are host to varieties of birds and animals. The place is real quiet and I loved the tranquility with fresh air and water. It is totally relaxing with amenities of high international standard. Food served is very delicious and prepared fresh each time. I am still relishing the delicacies like Fish curry, NeerDosa, rice noodles with chicken curry and local desserts. The property is maintained very clean comparable to any international home stay. The service is superb. Provides 24 hour hot water with high quality toiletries. It is a great place to visit alone, with friends or families. It provides something for each one. I am an American Citizen and have traveled all over the world and I would certainly rate Athithi Home Stay at the top of my list.

I am just back from a 'in most parts' good stay for two nights and three days at this place. Sincerely wish the improvement areas are noted coz this place is lovely, BUT screaming for attention. It was an office outing and we were a group of fourteen. Good things going for the home stay: First, it is in a coffee plantation in chikmanglur, so that's a winner. The owners are responsive and nice people, who worked out a decent accommodation plus food package for our team. The open areas within the property are gorgeous and lush green. CCTV security in common space. Since we stayed till Monday, we got the property mostly to ourselves for one night and next morning as the other guests had left Sunday night. You can also take a plantation walk. And, we had bonfire for a night. Now some observations and not so good experience: We were 6 girls and 8 gents, and were told we'll get four rooms with four cots in each room.. Sounded good. On check in, we got 3 rooms with 5 cots each. So we ended up with a cot made for two being shared by three girls.. How else could we accommodate one girl with the other boys? One room which we got inside the main house ( the other two were outside) was bizarre, with a very low door partitioning three cots from the other two (posting pic). I am 5.7 feet and banged my head there several times. Also this middle door barely had any gap with the cot to enter the other side. One of the bathrooms had no cold water in shower and no water in the health faucet. Power understandably is a problem in this area, but the housekeepers are reluctant to switch on generator, in fact we spent at least 6-8 hr without power coz we thought that's some kind of rule that power will be switched on after 6pm and 7am! For corporates with need to stay online and connected this was a dampner. We had to tell the staff that we'll call the owner right away before they murmured and switched on the generator. Food was a mixed feeling, although acceptable and homely.
