A gem in the Western Ghats
by Edassery on July 25, 2017
This resort off Samse town really offers you an amazing (almost 360 degree) view of the mountain range and valley around. The resort is an overall excellent package for couple of activities, food, mini spa and off all, a real getaway with minimal wireless access (literally) and external disturbance. The staff is courteous and the food is typical Malnadu cuisine that's extremely stomach friendly but more suitable for South Indian taste buds. The estate is maintained and groomed very well and there are a few recreation activities for all to enjoy. The biggest issue though is that, you will be kind of stuck for the duration of the stay here and can't really move out too much without the help of a 4x4 and their driver. Well, there are one or two attractions you can visit yourself in a sedan but mostly the terrain needs a 4x4. But that shortcoming doesn't takeaway the beauty of this gem in the ghats. The following is the summary for anyone interested in taking a vacation here: Major plus points: + Exceptional location and view + Excellent food (Malnadu style only) + Extremely well maintained property with good recreation (badminton, swimming pool, caroms, bonefire etc) + Very friendly staff (mostly Kannada speaking, with some English/Hindi) + Minimal alcohol available (beer, breezer etc) + Spa is reasonably priced Improvement areas - No laundry service, there's a dryer though - No wifi, there's wifi but very poor signal and mostly down - Many carriers don't work there. No signal for airtel/Jio, BSNL, idea work - No kettle in the rooms - No standard breakfast items which may be a must (e.g. No flakes, bread/toast, eggs etc) - No fish or prawns in the menu. It seems it's not available in this area. Non veg means it's only chicken - Towels smell of spa oils. Looks like spa and room share the same towels? Other tips: . Rafting is available only in June-July . Kudremukh view point can be accessed via normal sedans . Yelaneeru falls (very near to Upasana) requires a steep climb of about 150ft, not suitable for the elderly and those with knee problems etc

We were a family of 5 adults and 3 children ( includes an infant) travelling for 2 nights 3 days. We were happy that none of the photos on the website were photoshopped!! Amazing view, very hospitable staff! They have all the facilities as quoted in the website. Though we could not utilise all the facilities provided (due to kids), we did enjoy all that we could. Spa is a must try. The food is homely, tasty. They did oblige for making the infant food in their kitchen. Staff is very cordial. It was a very comfortable stay for us. Ms. Roshini coordinated the entire trip nicely and made it easy for us to locate the place. Its definitely one of my marked list of hotels. Drawbacks: The approach road is not tarred, hence would be difficult if the rains had been heavy.
Beautiful Location, average food & service

No doubt Location is great and perfect for nature photography, but few things i did not like staff is not good in english, can't speak proper hindi, cleanliness is not that good, (also kitchen was bit dirty) Food is average Don't have TV in all rooms, Don't have AC just have table fan, some room locks not working If lights is turn on of outside your room (in monsoon) THOUSANDS of insects will be there in morning and staff did not care to clean there until we check out ( I attached photo) In short they hardly reach 50% on what we pay
Paradise by the Ghats!
by Gaps15 on June 3, 2017
Most of the reviews mentioned about the beautiful reviews, and they were all absolutely right. The beauty of the western ghats can be seen from all over this resort. The rooms were clean and spacious. Hot water is available most of the times because of the solar heaters. The service was excellent. One of the friendliest staff I have experienced on my travels. A special mention to Madan who was always willing to help. There is no WiFi as claimed on the website, that is what we were told at the reception. Limited cellular coverage means WiFi could be essential. The food is tasty but hardly any variety especially if you are staying more than one night. The breakfast menu though needs a change real soon as it was pretty bad. Eggs and bread are a savior but are charged extra which I found ridiculous. Lunch and dinner though made up for it. The pool could do with regular cleaning but being surrounded by forests it is hard to keep the bugs away. They do have a spa and masseur available. The resort organize many paid trips around the area. We only choose to visit a nearby waterfall. Overall a good stay and a must visit for travelers in this area.
Pick one of the two rooms in the first floor above the office for great valley view
