Had a memorable and heavenly feeling with my family for new year eve. We were hear on 30th Dec, 2017 to 1st Jan, 2018. We had been to the near by Kurcha Katte falls, tea estate, Brahma Guddi, Maidadi View Point, Ambaa Teertha River and Kyatanmakki Sun Set Point (360 degree view) were mind blowing attractions. Also, not to forget the hospitality provide by the manager (Venugopal and team), my family and i were really happy and delighted to be at Upasana Retreat :) Would love to be here again and again :)

I do not want to repeat anything. All the 5 star rating comments covers most of this great resort. Be there to experience the bliss and enjoy the moment. Awesome staff, location and road that lead to kudhremukh from bangalore.

Upasana retreat is large mansion kind of homestay off Samse town. The winding roads, numerous waterfalls, mist and greenery will enchant you while driving to this place. But last stretch to the retreat is beside a tea garden which has large gravels. So if your car tires are not in good shape or your vehicle is heavily loaded, then be careful against tire sidewall damage. The place has unique characteristic of remaining immersed in cloud of mist almost through out the day. Though I cannot be sure during summer. The 1st floor rooms seems to have more privacy. This place is a good option for a family get-together. Food is homely and tasty but with limited options, only chicken in non-veg. The staff is friendly and will make you feel at home. In one of the recent review comments on lack of amenities, Upasana responded that they wanted to keep the retreat has homestay than hotel. In that case, I will consider that the retreat is over priced. Elaneeru Falls is nearby the retreat and jeep along with guide is provided by the retreat. Because of proximity to the retreat and it is recommended. Overall it was a memorable trip.

We drove to Upasana retreat from Mangalore and what a drive it was. The winding hills and the waterfalls on the way made the drive a delight. The fresh air laden with clouds made us more excited about the trip. As we approach Upasana, there is a stretch which is a mud road with a 2 meter visibility in the afternoon (2:30pm) because of the clouds. On reaching Upasana we were greeted with a welcome drink and the check-in process was smooth. The staff was helpful and the resort was covered with clouds. The 360 degree view of the mountains made us more ecstatic. We were served a sumptuous lunch soon after. The food at the resort is mainly local cuisine with locally grown produce which made the food even tastier. The resort also has games like table tennis, badminton, carrom and chess to keep everyone entertained. The karaoke system was a big hit on the 2nd day where we spent about 3 hours in the evening on the 2nd night and was even better as we had the complete resort to ourselves. The activities were well planned esp the trip to Elaneeru Falls. The rooms were spacious and maintained well. The simplicity of the place made it all the more better. The resort was situated in the mountains with hardly any network coverage except for BSNL and Jio. There are no luxuries like AC's, but you really dont need them as well. We were travelling with elderly people and they ensured that they were comfortable as well. Just be one with nature here and leave the gadgets away. I would definitely suggest this place for a weekend with family or friends.
