everything good about this resort except that it need urgent rennovation. i donot understand what they are waiting for rooms need urgent furniture change. bathroom needs tiles change simple things like door lock, chair cushion etc needs to be changed. people are writing good reviews based on natural beauty of this place and also good quality food but one thing cannot be ignored that is room condition. rooms are like ordinary lodge rooms here. old style TV with old style furniture which can break any time. small chairs and even bed can break any time. bathroom tiles are age old and even taps need to change. i hope management notice is before its too late rest all is awesome here nice pool nice garden nice view lot of natural beauty peaceful place good resturant

This resort, which was earlier a Taj Hotels Gateway resort, is now under new management. We had stayed here earlier, when it was run by the Taj, and it was then a wonderful little place. Although things have changed, the Riverview is still a nice place to stay for the night if you are driving between Bombay & Goa. The rooms are clean, with all the expected facilities - flat screen TV, tea & coffee service, complementary fruit basket, a room safe, comfortable beds, and adjustable air conditioning. The hot water is sometimes a problem, but if you call the reception, they get it going. There is accommodation available for your driver at a very reasonable rate, if you are travelling in a chauffeur driven car. The restaurant is adequate. Nothing fancy, but all the basic mix of Indian-Chinese-Continental food is available. That is on par for similar hotels all over India. The only drawback is that they serve instant coffee. The staff is smiling and helpful The best part about the hotel are its grounds. You drive up a wooded hill. The lawns are well maintain. The hedges trimmed, the swimming pool has clear water, the massage room and the steam room are next to it. Only the tennis court is unkempt. I wish there were more seasonal flowers to add colour to the garden. But even otherwise, the gardens are beautiful. The hotel sits perched at the very edge of the land that slopes into the valley. You can see the Vashishti river snake along below, through the little town of Chiplun, and meander into the distance. The sight is incredible early in the morning, when the mist rises in ribbons as the sun rises. But it is achingly beautiful, as the evening descends into night, and the lights begin to show up from the valley below. This place is worth the price.

Based on so many positive feedback in TripAdvisor , We chose to stay here. But this resort seem to be degrading slowly. The lawns and greenery is not well maintained. Pool and restaurant ambiance are good. Room interiors are clean but the balconies and exterior need some maintenance. Food is extremely costly. In general, guests from Mumbai seem to be more generous in rating the hotels ( they appreciate even a mediocre greenery or setup) On other hand, Pune guests demand more ( the resorts near are well maintained and provide value for money) ... It is good option as a transit hotel

This is the perfect place to unwind over a couple of nights. The property is beautiful with a lot of greenery all around...the view from the room(probably all rooms) is just super. They have a good swimming pool, activities for kids and even a dedicated person to engage children in some fun/constructive activities during the daytime and during dinner time (though this may have been specifically for the Christmas/New Year week). The food is OK, perhaps slightly overpriced. Rooms are comfy and have a nice cosy feel to them and the staff are professional and warm. If the aim is to get away from the noise, chaos, pollution of the city you'd not go wrong with a stay at this place.

After reading all the positive reviews, we decided to go to the place. On reaching, the property felt quite good. When we reached the room, it was disappointing at first. Old gates, old furniture, etc. The view from the baclony was good though. 1. Service - 4/5 2. Food quality - 4/5 3. Food price - 2/5 - way too expensive 4. Location - 3/5 (very near to river but chiplun as a whole is too undeveloped) Due to medical emergency we found it difficult to find a.medical shop with all proper meds. Public transport are far and few and difficult to find. Do carry some basic meds and ensure you travel by car. The rating would have been lower had the management not shown humanity by refunding a day's money because we had to cut short our trip for medical reasons. Also, they charge 700 for pick up from station which is less than 7kms away. This is exorbitant.
