If you are looking for a place with modern amenities and facilities then this place is not for you, but if your intention is to get a feel of traditional Rajput India with all its quaint quiet charm and quiet then this is an ideal choice. It is a quiet retreat with with a feel of history. I had the pleasure to chat and share a drink with the owner who is a very nice person embodying the best of good human Rajput values of simplicity, generosity and honesty.

This small slightly run down hotel has flower covered balconies and quiet places to sit. There were no other guests when we were there. The friendly staff offered drinks (limited to beer and whiskey) and to give us dinner when suited us. Do not believe the website - it is years out of date - but if you a looking for a quiet rest for a couple of days, this might be the place.

arrived here on a very hot day, but our driver had to find someone to book us in! Our room was spacious and clean and, given that this hotel is over 100 years old, the amenities were quite good. Room was air-conditioned although the beds were a little on the hard side. A good jumping off point for Chittorgarh Fort which is 20 minutes down the road.

First of all, one need not go to Bassi at all as there is nothing there. We happen to go just because it was close to Chittorgargh and the place had nice reviews, hoping to pass night there. There is nothing essentially wrong with the place except that it is a two star property who have put up pictures that are totally misleading. It is at the end of a dirty street and behind the village main road, full of piglets. Rooms are run down with kitsch furniture and furnishings, ancient a/c and an even older TV set. Bathrooms are bare with just a roll of toilet paper and brownish towels. Taps wobble, flush barely functions, and you better carry your own soap unless you prepared to take a shower with the shampoo sachets. There is no view whatsoever. The price they charge reflects what you are going to get but we went with the impressions of the pictures that they had put up. In a nutshell, avoid the town and the hotel. You might find a better place in Chittorgargh itself or in Bundi another 130 kms. ahead.

So at the very begginig the impression was: those review on TA were too severe. After less than 24hr and the bill, they were actually true. The bill: -They wanted the double price of the room (a deal was made prior with the owner, and thankfully we've got a wrotten confirmation), prices of the meals where not told to us before we actually started to eat, and of course there's no menu to order from but a full meal (alongside with his full price). -One us was sick before that, and got an "half price" meal (350 instead of 450...) -The beer price was triple of the bottle price. -We got moldy toast for the breakfast The place : -The palace itself was great to see, but needs serious work on the surroundings -We couldn't managed to get hot water, and of course nobody was there from 22. -The roof top, with great sunset view, is filled of garbage. -There's no nice spot to sit around, even though they have a nice garden -Toilet leakage -the owner speaks to you like a mom asking you to close the doors while she's "exercising" in front of the rooms. ..... In conclusion, too expensive for what it is, mainly the food and if you pay full price for the room, be careful to have every details at the beginning.
