What promised to be a low-key, quiet and peaceful two- or three-night stay turned out to be a horrible one-nighter. NOTHING worked filthy bathtub, broken toilet seats, ants everywhere, air-conditioner blowing incredibly hot air, mosquitoes, and bad service cannot be made up for by the courtesy and mild manner of Samsudeen and John. Creepy and crappy, and the owner's in cahoots with shady auto-rickshaw drivers. Best to look elsewhere we moved out first thing in at dawn after the first night in this horrid place. Never had a "homestay" experience as bad as this anywhere.

I came here recommended by a friend I met traveling, who said it was cheap and decent. It was a bit hard to find because most people you ask (even the auto-rickshaw folks) don't know where it is. Look for Bishop Garden Lane or head towards St. Francis church and you're in the right general area. The room was 500 rupees a night for a fan room and pretty spacious for what I was given, with two beds. I had to ask once to have them fill up the hot water tank, but the shower was clean as were the beds. Even though it wasn't quite a "home stay" per se, it was comfortable and secluded enough that I felt comfortable leaving my stuff around in the room. Evidently no wifi, but that's hard to come by in Fort Kochi, I've learned.

I stayer here for 2 nights and found this homestay very good. It's locatated in a quiet residential area about 10 min walk from Kochin centre (Tuk Tuk are cheap in Kochin). The staff were very welcoming and the room was spacious and clean with hot shower.

When I reached Fort Kochin by boat, I felt really tired so I just asked one auto driver to take me to the reasonable guesthouse/home stay place. Actually he took me a right place! This hotel located at residential area and very quiet and safe. I think it was only 10 min walk from the center of the city. I was welcomed by kind staffs and owner so I didn't feel lonely at all when I was staying there. The room was spacious and well cleaned. Hot shower was always available. This guest house doesn't have a restaurant and you have to eat outside. I payed 400rps for one night(coz it was not a very high season yet) and I must say it was worth to stay here.
