We had a fantastic 12 days in India but the one thing that my boys (11 and 13) loved more than anything else was swimming in the river at Dewalokam with Paul! They are very keen that if we ever come back to India Dewalokam is on the agenda and I am entirely with them. Such a lovely relaxing place, beautiful food and lovely people. Joses spice walk was fascinating and we loved seeing the fruit bats. Our room was very comfortable and eating outside in the evening with the coloured lights twinkly was really special. Ive already cooked the chicken curry from the cookbook but I cant live up to the standards we tasted there. Many thanks to all the family for making us feel so very welcome and looked after

This was a remarkably good place to stay for a couple of days. The best parts were - (1) the activities laid on by the homestay free of charge - touring the farm and garden and seeing all the different foods being grown; a walk through the forest and seeing a huge colony of fruit bats; the walk through the rubber plantation to the nearby village; the morning yoga sessions (2) the food which was absolutely superb, as well as having the opportunity to watch it being prepared and ask the chef questions (3) the property which is very well kept and cared for -the gardens are lovely and the rooms are clean and comfortable. (4) the hosts Jose and Sinta who were knowledgeable, charming and really took care to talk to all their guests and make sure everyone was happy and knew about the activities available (4) Our kids really enjoyed swimming in the river as well... there's a good pool too. This is a perfect place to spend a few days to relax and we felt we would have enjoyed another night or two. If we are in Kerala again we will definitely come back!

We stayed for three nights and enjoyed everything about it. The hosts (and daughter Tara although we didnt meet Paul), the food, the peace, the trips - I could go on. It is simply a beautiful place with many things to do, if you wish to participate, which will enrich your holiday in and understanding of Kerala. We experienced the spice walk, milking a cow, rubber tapping, village walk including tuk-tuk ride, yoga, raft riding, bats at dusk.... I could go on. This was a very special part of our holiday and those who own it really mind if you have a good time!

I had found this Homestay by accident whilst searching for a last minute holiday to Kerala. What a find it turned out to be. This is the perfect place to stay if you want to completely relax in beautiful and natural surroundings. I loved the walk around the farm and spice garden with Jose, tasting different spices and fruits. The walk through the rubber plantation with a demonstration of how the tappers extract the sap was interesting as was the visit to the nearby village which was completely off the tourist track. Jose and his family have put in a lot of thought and effort to make sure guests enjoy their stay. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. Jose and Sinta will often join you for meals and my wife and I enjoyed their company greatly. They both have a good sense of humour and Jose's laugh was infectious. I enjoyed the communal eating and met with some very interesting people. Jose and Sinta's children are intelligent and a delight, with their banter making for lively conversation. Having spent 5 days at Dewalokam we moved on to a high end resort which was very good but not a patch on our stay with Jose and Sinta. We felt we had left new found friends and hope to visit again some time.

Me and my wife had a wonderful stay in this homestay. The family's welcome and warm behavior surprised us. The atmosphere was so nice and friendly that we felt to be of their family. In the day Jose and Sinta (the hosts) showed us their lovely garden and its spices, plants and animals. The food also was excellent; we had many fresh and organic choices that tempt us to taste all of them. My wife also learned some cookery tips that she performs them in our home. Don't miss this unforgettable exprience in your trip to Kerala...
