A nice boutique kind of place, extremely courteous staff, good food, we enjoyed our stay here. The verandah outside our room, overlooking the pool made it very romantic and it was a fab place to unwind. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quiet time.

I liked everything about this hotel - it was our top accommodation during our recent visit to India. We were booked to stay in the Poovath for 2 days at the beginning of our trip and chose to spend another 3 days there near its end. The hotel is a renovated Dutch colonial building more than 200 years old. Consequently, the rooms are old fashioned with high ceilings, but the bathrooms have up to date fittings. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The Poovath is set back from Fort Kochi beach and promenade and is within easy walking distance of historical attractions and restaurants. Excellent location! There are dining facilities at the hotel where the food is good and of a reasonable price. The office staff and service staff were all friendly and helpful. We received quite a bit of help from them on arranging several aspects of our holiday. Our stay at the Poovath was excellent in all respects - if we ever return to Fort Cochin, this hotel is where we would stay.

We stayed at Poovath for two nights in April 18. What a lovely hotel, a real haven of peace after a long drive from Munnar. Nancy and her staff are all lovely and extremely helpful. Nancy spent time explaining the local area to us and gave us a map which was great for navigating our way around. Nancy was also extremely helpful when I had an allergic reaction to mosquito bites. She ordered us a Tuk Tuk to get to the chemist and rang ahead to explain what the issue was. A great example of excellent customer service. We had room 104(not a sea view room) which was perfect. Clean, comfortable with all the amenities you would need. The bathroom was amazing, modern, clean and bright. The a/c was a necessity when we were there. We tried half a night without it but had to give in about 2am! We didn't eat at the hotel either night but the breakfasts were adequate, fresh fruit, fresh juice and an omelette set us up nicely for the day ahead. There was an option for Keralan breakfast if desired. We were pleasantly surprised by the local area, a lot to do within walking distance of the hotel. We ate the first evening at Seagull on Nancys recommendation. A very good cheap meal with a beer overlooking the port. The second evening we ate at Eighth Bastion which is about a 1 minute walk from Poovath. More expensive, 21 for two people for starter (for 1 but large enough to share) 2 mains (1 vegetarian), 2 bottles of water and 1 delicious juice cooler ( again enough to share). The portions were large. They gave a free canape each whilst we waited for the food to arrive which were delicious. No alcohol license. Describes itself as Dutch fusion, worth a visit in our opinion. Poovath has two friendly dogs(I'm not a doggy person but they were kept well under control).

I've been staying in the Poovath heritage for the past 6 days and everyday was a new experience...I would suggest the beach view room in Poovath to anyone who is visiting Kochi. I would like to personally thank NANCY and RUCHI for their wonderful hospitality that made me feel like home...and special thanks to Silvia and Coco to make this place more lively... FYI this place is dog friendly. best season to visit Kochi is monsoon and I would say the view from the room is amazing (refer to the attached pics). love the place love the people I will be back very soon...

Loved this hotel. The location is spectacular with wonderful views of the Arabian Sea, and the promenade. Great for people watching as well as enjoying the sunset. The staff is in training, so their access to English is also a thing in progress, but they are very friendly. The manager, Nancy, is a wonder. She is very accommodating and does everything in her power to make ones stay comfortable. The pool was great, and just the anecdote for the heat and humidity of March. The food was a bit of a disappointment in that it catered more to western taste than to Indian, and could have used some more spice. It was a favorite hotel on our two week trip through South India. Too bad they do not have a liquor license, and it would be nice if they could work with the Municipal Corporation to clean up the park in front of the hotel a bit. But the trash did not concern the group who practiced yoga there each morning. They were an inspiration!
