Enveloped by the Malayattoor forest, the riverside lodge allows you to experience nature in all its forms.
From the harried and time-crunched city dweller seeking some peace and quiet, to the adventurer who cant wait to get out and explore, there is something for everyone at Quiet by the River.
Quiet by the River offers four independent lodges which are spacious with air-conditioning, en-suite baths and a verandah that offers majestic views of the river and surrounding forest.
The adventure begins as soon as you start the journey to the river lodge - a 30-minute drive up a rugged path through the forest.
Look carefully and you may just spot an elephant on the way up. Once you reach the embarkation point, a country canoe picks you up to help you traverse the last part of the journey. The rhythmic sound of the bamboo oars in water, the pleasant sound of the gurgling Periyar river and the chirping of birds welcome you to a world that is a far cry from the sights and sounds of city life.
Feel the stress melting away as you take a deep breath and watch the beauty of nature unfold. One of Malayattoors best kept secrets, Quiet by the River is located on a 47-acre island that allows you to pause and experience the wonder of nature, one unhurried moment at a time. This property is accessible via travel hubs such as Ernakulam Junction Railway Station (10 km), Cochin International Airport - 33 km (45 minutes - 1 hour), Kochi - 60.3 km (2 hours) and Munnar - 88.7 km (2 hours 42 minutes).
Places worth a visit include Fort Kochi Beach (11 km) and Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary (13 km). Variety is the spice of life. At Quiet by the River, the menu changes daily, making every meal a pleasant surprise as well as a feast in its own right.
Go beyond the tried and tested fare and delve into authentic dishes and forgotten recipes that have been unearthed and recreated for our guests. The use of a variety of spices is sure to give your taste buds an experience of Kerala cuisine that you will not forget in a hurry. What people love the most about this property is its mesmerizing ambiance and hospitality.

Book now and enjoy services at this luxury property in the city.

We left our driver and transferred with our luggage into a jeep for a short drive along a forest track. We then walked down a slope to an awaiting canoe (whilst two young men carried our 3 heavy suitcases). Ten minutes later we had crossed the river (felt more like a lake) and there was Girish to welcome us onto his island. After some formalities we were shown to our delightful cottage (Grand View definitely the room to go for). For the next two days we were pampered by the excellent staff of this most very special place and fed by the most accomplished chef, Matthew. We were visited by elephants one evening after dinner (so kind of them to wait until we had finished eating) when Girish had to persuade some guests that it was not wise to try to feed bananas to wild elephants! A wonderful place surrounded by the Periyar River.

Quiet by the river took us by surprise. Settled amidst nowhere so beautifully. Big recommendations if you are just looking to engage in nature. So very delighted to have had exprience a place which got it all just right. From it being eco friendly to serving food thats consciously made 'to feed and not to fill' Special thanks to chef matthew for feeding us so mindfully - catching on exactly to our requirements and the warmth of every person at the property. Much love.

A location that truly lives up to its name. Excellent service which always carries a smile and nothing is too much trouble. Girlish Kumar and his staff run an excellent this secluded island location on the Periyar River - Mathew, the chef, was very creative with his use of local produce. Elephants also visited while we were there. My wife and I had very comfortable, enjoyable and relaxing 2 days at Quiet by the River. An improvement would be some refurbishment and updating.

My husband and I spent two utterly relaxing days at Quiet by the River, resting, watching the world go by, eating marvelous authentic Kerala food, and hiking in the forest. The chef, Matthew, cooks with skill and so much flavor. Nothing is compromised or turned down the spice level is what it should be. The General Manager and Naturalist, Girish, introduced us to the flora and fauna of the forest. His knowledge runs deep, and we appreciated his expertise. The cottages are quite comfortable, the staff is attentive and kind, and the surroundings are stupendous. Thank you for the visit of a lifetime.

Simply stunning island in a river location, with four stone cottages built for the view, and food to fill the heart as well as the stomach. This is a magical place managed by the wonderful Girish Kumar. We stayed two days. Any longer and time would have drifted away into the depth of the surrounding forest and rushing Piriyar River. Each meals was served in a different location, each showing off how simple can showcase the nature's complexity. On walks and boat trips we were at nature's pleasure. Superb experience.
