This is a hidden gem. It is a fantastic budget hotel located right in the heart of the most popular traveller section of Fort Kochin. It is close to the beach and great restaurants and has everything you need. It's clean, quiet, (slightly hard beds), but the location makes up for it. It's hard to find an affordable hotel in this area and this place is very affordable! Most rooms have their own private balcony and the managers are fantastic and very helpful.

I paid for one of their deluxe rooms, not realizing it had a balcony. I arrived at about 4am, and was grateful that I could just pay them to have a car pick me up at the airport. I was, accidentally put into one of their budget rooms, and was honestly just quite grateful I brought my own "sheet sleeping bag" to sleep in, because the room was so dirty. A thick brown cobweb draped across the television with dust and cobwebs everywhere. Brown fingerprints marks on walls around light switches. The air didn't work right--more of a fan. I actually cleaned up the room some before I went to sleep because I was just that grossed out... There are pics posted by other guests on the internet that show the room I was in or one just like it. I woke up at about 11am with horrible allergies from the room (my allergies, other than this, were just non-existant in India) and went downstairs to go out. That was when I was informed I had accidentally been put into the wrong room, and was transferred to the nicer one. And it was much nicer, with air conditioning that worked mostly. I say mostly, because I was stuck on one temperature which was too cold for me, and since I didn't pack sweaters or anything I was either far too hot if I turned it off or far too cold with it on. Still, neither room had shower curtains (lacking everywhere in India, but I had expected it from the pictures). While much cleaner, the tiles around the shower stall were actually discolored with a layer of dirt. There were also the dirty finger prints around the lights switches on the walls. I rubbed my hand over it and the dirt ran down. The young man and the woman who worked there were very nice, and the owner or manager who I only saw once was helpful with a couple of things, so that was nice. However, it was challenging because the owner or manager spoke English well, and he was never around. The young man who worked the desk spoke almost no Englis and the woman none. That made it a bit hard to get acclimated. I point this out because everyone everwhere seemed to speak English there, and I had the most difficulty in the hotel I was at. Because of written emails prior to the trip, etc., I assumed the owner who spoke English would have been available more, which would have been very helpful. A few days later I saw a young Indian couple being led to the room I had first been put into by accident and just felt sorry for them. I couldn't believe Vasco da Gama actually rented a room that dirty to someone...and the "budget" rooms there are really not that much cheaper than the deluxe priced ones. It wasn't nearly as nice as the pictures they have posted. The pictures posted from guests will really let you know. I probably wouldn't have given such a low review had I been put in the right room, but after being accidentally put into the first room I saw what low standards there actually were there. A friend I met after I left had been there at the same time, and for the same money had a much nicer place to stay. I would not choose to stay there again.

Stayed here for a night. It is a good budget hotel to stay. Although they don't have car parking, we can park it any lane near the stay. It's very near to Chinese fishing nets and good restaurants. Ac, neat sheets, 24 hrs hot water, packed drinking water are good.

Very cheap but one of the best places we've stayed in India. Clean, large rooms with great insect screens on all the windows and balcony doors (needed this close to the sea!). Staff were very friendly and helpful, organised a great (and cheap) backwater tour for us. Great shower with constant hot water and high pressure. Good fast wifi. Laundry quite expensive.

Located in an excellent location, just off sea front. Clean and basic with a good breakfast. Staff and the owner were very helpful. Rooms with AC, and cosmetics. This is budget accommodation, but still good value for money.
