Several people had recommended this hotel to me - both previous guests, and also professionals in the field. They were not wrong! I had visited twice before - for 3 nights and for 5 nights, but this time I decided I would take the plunge and commit my entire two week, high season holiday at this resort. It more than fulfilled my expectations. The standards of service, of course, are legendary from a pan-India staff. But the individual attention from Guest Relations, and Duty Managers placed it way ahead of the competition. It was not enough for them to check if I was having a good time, they repeated their enquiries, often making suggestions and recommendations about ways in which I could augment my stay. I have mobility and medical issues, and my holiday was therefore mostly hotel-based. I dont recall a happier holiday. Being high season, there were large numbers of short-stay tours coming and going. I know they would have loved to extend their stay, and I was very glad to have more time there. There are too many outstanding individuals to single out by name ... BUT ... I cannot help mention Sous Chef Santosh and Executive Chef Thomas George, who took personal charge of my meals and rated 10/10 every single night. Ahilan at Dolphin Point was the perfect host, as were the wonderful team at the famous Rice Boat Restaurant. It was also a pleasure to meet the Managers when tea is served each evening as the sun sets over the astonishing Kochi Harbour. I have already booked my next visit there. More than two weeks next time.

The place is a mix of modern and traditional. On the riverfront with the rooms having an amazing view but a tad small than the usual 5 star hotel rooms. Its closer to Jew town and very accessible to the main town Ernakulum by Steamer. The boat station is a 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The bar is good and a drink in the evening with their 'Ko Kochin' cocktail made out of coconut water is a must try. They have live music and dance organized for residents and also a complimentary river cruise arranged in the evenings. The swimming pool and the health club is well maintained and has a lovely view. Staff is very friendly and service oriented.

The Taj Malabar is worth visiting for many factors but one outstanding factor is its unparalleled location. The Taj hospitality is evident in most aspects of your stay beginning with traditional welcome ,smooth check in and cooling welcome drink on arrival.Mr Sunil was excellent in guest relations and was with us throughout always providing good guidance on various matters and sorting out issues immediately which really helped in making our stay memorable. The rooms are a bit small but the view is just outstanding. One can spend the entire stay just looking out of the wide windows facing the sea.Ships of various sizes and kinds containers tankers cruise liners naval boats coast guard boats ferries tug boats yatches keep sailing in and out .There are dolphins and flying fish and many different birds which can be seen going about their activities. Rooms are well maintained and housekeeping does a good job on regular basis .There are many peaceful spots where one can sit in comfort and relax while watching the waters especially a swing in a corner outside Rice Boat restaurant which faces the area where dolphins most often play.We were relaxing there early one morning and Kantaram was doing some work. There is beautiful frangipani there in full bloom and Kantaram selected two lovely blooms and presented them to us. It was one of the loveliest moments of our stay. The buffet breakfast had a good spread with traditional Kerala specialities.Buffet Lunch and dinner also had fair amount of vegetarian local items which gives us opportunity to try out the local dishes without having to go out in search of them. Desserts had a fair selection of Indian sweets but absolutely nothing for vegetarians in the baked section. This has happened to us all in other Taj properties and we have invariably told about this . I hope Taj management takes note and keeps more varieties for vegetarians in baked section. It is possible as we have experienced in other restaurants. The complimentary high tea also had pakoras ,non veg cake and tea coffee. High tea could do with some option for people who cannot have fried foods or non veg.Service in the Pepper restaurant was not up to the mark for first two days and the only weak point of our stay.On the second evening we were supported by Jomon who then took good care of us for the rest our stay. Mr Sunil also introduced Chef Karthik who then sorted out high tea and dinner by making sandwiches and sweets for tea and some kerala special vegetables for dinner. There are many activities and we all liked the sunset cruise the most. Check out was again smoothly handled by Mr Sunil and Supari with a gift to remind us of our stay when we reach home .Mr Sunil came to see us off till our car and all door staff warmly waved goodbye to us like we were guests at their home. Its these little gestures that make a stay at Taj Malabar outstanding.

This is a truly beautiful hotel on Wellington Island, away from the bustle of Fort Kochi but still only a quick car trip from all the sights. We had a room with a view of the harbor well worth any extra cost. Every amenity is provided and the bar and restaurants are great. The grounds are beautiful as is the infinity pool. The hotel has free activities like a sunset boat cruise. The spa is extra special. I had the best massage and facial ever!

We booked the property to celebrate my fiance's birthday and we had an amazing time. The staff welcomes you very warmly and make you feel at home. Very good Spa, the swimming pool side is pure beauty. Mr. Sojan was very helpful when organizing a small birthday cake! At the end of the day, enjoy a complimentary high tea & riceboat tour. Rice Boat restaurant: very fresh sea food. However, be careful, it is spicy !! Opt for the garlic and herbs style instead of Kerala style if you can't take spicy food. Breakfast very correct. Our was room comfortable, the bed even more. Fort Kochi is the next Island: when you stay at the Taj, you are away from the noise, away from the tourist & busy streets of Fort Kochi. Willingdon Island is very peaceful and quiet. You can take the shuttle boat to Fort Kochi: 4rs/person/way.
