I spent my last two days in Cochin at the Xandari and the entire stay was flawless. Mr. Renjith and Kalpana could not be more hospitable, kind, considerate and gracious. I loved to hear the history of the hotel from Mr. Renjith, it was wonderful to know that Xandari is a reclaimed Spice godown. In spite of the rains, the ocean was gorgeous right outside the balcony with a great view to of the skyline and harbor. I could see fishermen bringing in their catch early morning. The little touches in the room that made the hotel eco friendly was much appreciated. I loved to explore the street from Xandari's central location, so close to everything, excellent Ayurveda massage place, a local wish fulfilling church, colorful people on the streets, jaw dropping murals across the little bridge and great boutiques a short 50 rupee tuk-tuk drive away. On checking out, a little plant was planted in my name, that was such a sweet gesture to leave something of behind.

When I first saw Xanadari harbor, I could not believe that it was originally a warehouse that was converted into a hotel. It is beautiful! I was also happily surprised to see that such cool properties now exist in India. With a great view, clean and minimalistic design, and lovely staff, I would definitely recommend anyone visiting Kochi to visit this property. The breakfast is included in the package and even that is excellent. We were there for just a day and visited Fort Kochi area in the few hours that we had. In fact, the hotel staff only arranged a Rickshaw ride for us to see this area in the few hours that we had. We loved the area- visited a couple of museums and churches there. So, all in all, a great property that you should definitely go to when in Kochi even for a day. It will completely relax you. P.S.- They make every guest plant a tree, once he/she checks out! Loved the concept.

This was a fabulous resort for taking in the sites of Fort Kochin. The resort is situated in and beside a smartly renovated historic harbour-front building, which houses their fabulous restaurant. Daily breakfast was always a treat here, as well as for afternoon coffee and evening dinner such an exquisite experience to dine both pool and harbour-side. Also, the staff are marvellous and make you really feel at home. The room was bang-on in terms of spaciousness and design and appointments. This is a must-visit when in Fort Kochin. We could not be happier with our choice to stay here.

Arriving outside the Xandari Harbour, I wondered if I'd been brought to the wrong address. Stepping through the door, transported me into another world. Our hostess, Kalpana explained the history of the building and thus the outside appearance. Having been welcomed we had a short step over to our accommodation in Room 1. A small courtyard garden behind the wall and gate offered private outdoor seating. Stepping through the door - glass sliding and flywire sliding doors - it was obvious our hotel room was "out of the ordinary". No TV in sight! Tiled floor with smooth "concrete areas, table and chair one side, bed directly in front, small desk built into back of bathroom wall with chair, free standing towel rail and a lamp on table. Step round and behind the bed to find bench with built in wash basin and huge mirror backing on to the bed. The far wall was built in wardrobes, bench with tea/coffee making facilities and the bar fridge. The bathroom had large shower and toilet. Everything carefully planned and well thought out. In the main hotel courtyard/quadrangle is the swimming pool which looks like it is an integral part of the harbour/lake but is in fact separate [on closer inspection]. The pool has a small lawn area behind it which added to the sense of spaciousness. The restaurant [downstairs] is housed in the building opposite; up the stairs there is a pool table, lounge / comfy seating area and a bookshelf filled with very interesting books. The views over the Vembanad Lake etc are constantly changing given the amount of fishing boats, shipping, ferries moving about and we could see the lights of the Marine Drive on the far shore winking at us at night. Kalpana and her team work tirelessly to ensure everyone has all they could possibly need/want to maximise enjoyment of their stay. The menu offers mostly fish dishes with double chilli signs - not to our taste but all very well cooked/prepared; however the salads were perfect as was the ginger/lime fizz - bliss. Puttu at breakfast is an absolute MUST! There is so much to explore along Bazaar Road alone as well as in the Fort Kochi area - Chinese Fishing Nets, ferry trips, markets plus plus plus. We wished our stay was for longer than the two nights - far too short and we must return. Nearly forgot to mention the shop in the front of the hotel. Items for sale are sourced from women self help groups and are all very beautifully crafted.

Thanks to the amazing service offered by Ranjith and the other staff who made it a special evening and helped with all the arrangements as per our request. The table was exclusively set up for us on the dock with the beautiful view of the kochi city lights. Had a memorable time.
