THIS IS MY BENCHMARK FOR A WORST LODGING EXPERIENCE EVER

On my recent trip to Coimbatore with family that included four senior citizens and an infant, I thought of hiring a service apartment given the specific needs to being able to cater to the infant over a hotel and made a mistake of confirming our stay at this so called Service apartment called "Coimbatore Service Apartments" managed by a gentleman named Mr.Babu. I say mistake because: 1. In spite of no confirmation of the detailed address of the apparently confirmed service apartment till about 12 hours prior to our check in also did not ring a bell in my mind about how bad this was going to get. Foolishly for myself, Not only did I follow up for the address and confirmation from this "relationship manager" just before boarding the train for Coimbatore, I also overlooked the fact that he did not answer my call and just sent me the address of the apartment over text message without no contact person details at the apartment. 2. But this was just the beginning. Upon arrival at 7:30 am in the morning, we were greeted by a dark and gloomy unkempt three bedroom apartment which took me by surprise. 3. What shocked me further was the care taker's response that neither will he be able to make any tea for us at that time of the day nor will he be cleaning the dirty and dusty place for us as the normal protocol was that the room is cleaned once before check in and then only after check out. And this was also not it, even after speaking to the "relationship manager" there was no improvement in the situation. While he assured me on the phone of the place being cleaned at regular intervals, even the dustbins weren't cleared on a daily basis, let alone cleaning the place. 4. Upon following up, the rude response followed from the caretaker 5. Other stellar features of the "service" includes a full time companion in a rat ambling across the living room during most parts of the day keeping us company and the towels and linen which were never changed during the three days of our stay. We were also expected to wash the utensils available in case we were to attempt making any food for ourselves. To ensure that we keep the place safe for a crawling infant, the family took turns in sweeping the place. And for all this, I only paid IINR 4800/- per day as charges towards this sham of a service apartment. When I sent a message to the relationship manager at the end of my stay notifying of my disappointment, there was no revert. Not that I was expecting anything else but hope springs eternal. And the icing on the cake was when we were asked to shell out the balance money while checking out inspite of having paid the money fully in advance. The reason offered was that the caretaker had left abruptly and the person in charge did not know the situation. That the full advance was clearly mentioned in their check in register obviously did not matter. It was only after pointing it out to the new person that he agreed. All in all, this is the worst experience I have ever had in any of my visits. This is my benchmark for a worst lodging experience ever.
