Bright Spot Homestay was recommended to us by our friends who had stayed there. We were greeted with flowers and homemade juices on arrival. Upon our request, we were served Coorgi food (order the Coorgi pork) that was so good, I drool just thinking about it! This is also a coffee-lover's paradise; the passionfruit drink is amazing too. Breakfast was a delightful affair with fresh bread, butter, and honey that has the fragrance of local flowers. Mrs. Ponnappa's service was always with a smile---friendly, yet non-intrusive. The amenities are basic (not like a resort/hotel) but just enough to make the stay comfortable. Our room was very clean and so was the bathroom. The little touches, such as flowers at the doorstep, and a screen in the verandah to offer privacy let you know that the Ponnappas are thoughtful people. If you want to just unwind and relax in a quiet and scenic place with good food and plenty of space to wander in, then this is the place for you (honeymooners lost in each other may be the best candidates :)) People with a need for activity may not be satisfied with Bright Spot; however, there are places nearby that one can visit, if inclined so. We visited a monastery. Do remember to buy Mrs. Ponnappa's homemade wines and other goodies, along with coffee and spices. On the whole I would rate Bright Spot at a 6/7.

We had a great stay at Bright Spot. The owner of the homestay Mrs. Rama and her family was extremely cordial and warm in welcoming their guests, and always took care of our requests with a smile. We stayed there for 2N3D. We experienced amazing hospitality. The family grow coffee, cardamom, pepper in their estate. We tasted and liked the aroma of their home grown coffee. We did enjoy the vegetarian dishes as much as their coorgi style non vegetarian dishes. I would highly recommend this place for a group of families going together. Children also would enjoy the open space and country atmosphere. The facility is very basic but clean and hygienic. One should not expect or compere the facilities with a full-fledged hotel or inn. They provide 24 hours water supply and have power back up.
