We were here for a weekend. Our plan was for the Tadiandamol Trek which is very close to this homestay. The homestay: The homestay is great with the best location around the area and the view is phenomenal. The property is well maintained and clean rooms. Huge parking space for TT or Cars. Rooms are decent and food is good too. We chose hi tea, dinner and breakfast. Deepthi (homestay owner) was very helpful in accomodating our requests and also arranged for a jeep for our trek which was payable additionally. The trek: Tadiandamol starting point is about 2-3 kms uphill from the homestay. You can choose to walk or take your own car or hire a 4X4 jeep. We chose the Jeep because the roads are tough for own car and the last 1km stretch can be done only by a 4X4. (Contact for Jeep: Babu- 9880574217) you can also ask the homestay to arrange for a jeep. Once you reach the top, fill up details at the checkpost and you can start your trek. Please don't litter in the forest as it is one of the cleanest and well maintained trekking spots. The whole trek is about 4-5 hours (to and fro) depending upon speed. As you climb uphill, you can see the beautiful hills. It is advisable to start the trek early in the morning at around 6/7am and be back before it gets too sunny. Advantage: no crowd. We were the first people to start the trek that day. PS: you need to ask the Jeep driver to come back if you want a drop back and this is an additional charge.

Kings cottage provides you a decent stay with a real good scenic mornings. It is located amidst calm and greenish location. It is suitable for staying with friends or family group. It has 24/7 water heaters. Well maintained washrooms and toilets. You get not so good but pretty decent service. Food is good. You may need to tell in advance if you need some special recipes. In total, it worth for what they charge !

Six of us stayed here and our primary requirement is for a decent place which is closer to Tadiandamol trek starting point. It fitted our requirement perfectly. Kings cottage is a great budget homestay which is well maintained, very clean, has good approachable roads, has big rooms, close to trek start point, provides great food. The hosts were also great and very accommodative, they even provided us packed lunch in their own containers so that we don't miss lunch during our trek. We left with great feeling that some of us would return to this place when we are around Madikeri just to enjoy nature around this place even if we are not trekking.

I stayed with family of 4, visited on 23.September.2017, 1) it was a comfortable stay, 2) we loved the location and environment 3) if you have your own vehicle, I absolutely recommend to stay at this place, 4) food is good, 5) you can get lot of privacy. 6) it is located around 35KM to Madikeri. 7) Near by you can find "Chelevera" waterfalls, go and visit IF the distance is not a matter, if you have your own vehicle, and you wanted to live in nature for some time THEN simply go.... JUST A NOTE, here drinks are allowed
