What's Good: Resort ambience is good. Suitable for pleasant stay.
What needs to improve : Maintenance is poor. Food is overpriced in restaurant.
Reason For Rating : It is difficult to locate the resort in coorg. When we called 24/7 enquiry for route guidance ,we are informed to call another mobile in Bangalore.

Reason For Rating : This isnt much of an issue with the hotel as it is with your platform. I booked a room for 3 adults and 1 infant., and based on the price decided to book. Your page got stalled at the payment gateway so I had to refresh it and it took me back to Yatra portal with booking details and pressed continue and paid - the same amount. After the booking was done and once we reached the hotel, we realised that the booking was done for 2 adults and 1 infant. The page refreshed the number of occupants to default too. And for no reason I ended up paying 1000 bucks extra for the 3rd adult. The price on your portal was exactly the same for 3 adults compared to two adults. I tried reasoning with the hotel but they said since the booking is for 2, we have to pay for an extra person. All because your portal refused to move ahead during the payment gateway.

What's Good: Wonderful experience staying at Porcupine Castle, surrounded by coffee plantation. Beautiful location, though a bit far away from Madikeri town. Nice clean rooms. Staff was courteous and helpful, especially Mr. Lohit, who also took us on a small trek in the plantation and was very informative. Food was good. Definately worth visiting again.

What's Good: Great property and some breathtaking view from our rooms. We stayed in Premium Valley View chalets (105 & 106). The Valley view rooms are the best. They also have 2 amazing tree houses (one above the other, on the same tree), which would fascinate the adventurous soul. It was a great experience - the property itself, the friendly staff etc. It is located about 40 kms from Madikeri & the tourists attractions, so unless you have a car, you might find it difficult to go out and see places. The plantation walk was very informative and one of the best things in this resort. Its a must do.. Yesudas, who took us on the plantation tour knows everything abut the local flora & fauna, and is very friendly, patient and passionate about it. Ask for Yesudas by name for the plantation walk, if possible. The food was good, but not many local Coorgi/ Kodava dishes feature, and some of the things given on the menu were not available. We also felt the dishes were way overpriced. Given that the resort is away from any other source of food (restaurants, hotels), this can be a sore point, in an otherwise fabulous stay.

My wife and I, together with another couple, spent 4 days at Porcupine Castle end of Dec 2017. We found the resort to be well located on top of a hill with great views of the valley with coffee plantations. The room was comfortable and had a large dressing area and bathroom. We went on several walks through the coffee plantation which the resort is a part of. On two occasions one of their staff members led us and shared a lot of information about coffee and the other plants that grow there. All three meals are served and are reasonably priced. Good buffet spreads. In the evenings there were cultural programs and bonfires, possibly since it was festive season. Their staff is well trained and very courteous and helpful.

Ambience is good..place is good. scenic beauty all around . Food was awful. And no restraunt in the outskirt...this being a major drawback..of the place .they will arrange a coffeee plantation tour inside their property.overall a good experience.

I have waited a while, on purpose, before writing this review. It is rare, for me, to return home from a vacation and still be thinking about the resort that I stayed at months before. I think about this place every day. Magical is the only way to describe Porcupine Castle. My reason for staying here was because I was at a ten day retreat. The location is in the hills, in the middle of lush coffee plantations, rich green foliage, and occasional elephant sightings. The ambiance could not have been more peaceful. The staff are truly caring and want to help meet your needs in any way that they can. They take impeccable care of the property and things just seem to be taken care of. Vipin, the general manager, makes a point to get to know every guest. He is on top of everything that is going on and he is great fun to be around. We went on amazing hikes, right around the property, and they answered all of our questions, while pointing things out that I would never have noticed if I was alone. I hope to return to this beautiful oasis in the near future. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I have traveled the world and Porcupine Castle is first on my list of places to return to.
