Spent 2 nights during the sept dasara weekend. Primarily a safari trip to Nagarahole. Simple no frills place with comfortable beds, clean toilet and decent homely food. Both Manu and his wife are typical friendly Kodava folks who know how to treat their guests. Kutta is a village/town just after nagarahole and just before kerala. The homestay is a few hundred meters from the kutta bus stand/ commercial area. Other than nagarahole one can visit irppu falls, thirunelli vishnu temple across the border. Good homely no frills breakfast before you head out and a homely dinner is what you get. They dont serve lunch. For lunch if you are around theres a small restaurant called safari inn located between kutta and nagarahole gate on the kutta side. Decent typical roti naan dal aloo chicken anda jeera rice kind of place. Quite tasty. For folks looking for some local food in a decent setting you can drive down to gonikoppa anhour away and eat at cafe papera. Great kodava food along with usual roti paratha daal chicken etc. Neither safari inn nor Papera serve liquor. For folks looking for a beer you will have to make your own arrangements . Infact i dint see any decent restaurant with a bar in the entire area incl gonikoppa. There are a few kerala malabari restaurants in kutta which dint look appealing. Another joint called cafe robusta a cpl km away from kutta towards gonikoppa which can also be tried. This place is ideal for a 2 night stay with 2 safaris thrown in and visit to cpl of nearby places in between. From blore about 5-6 hrs depending on mysore road traffic, pitstops and your speed.turn left before hunsur. Remember you cant drive thru nagarahole between 6 pmand6am. So plan accordingly. If you are going for safari i suggest take the JLR jeep safari rather than forest dept mini buses. But jeep safaris are more expensive at 1200 per head. Safari timings are 6.30 am and 3.30 pm. You need to book JLR jeep safari in advance. Thankyou Mr & Mrs Manu for a nice stay and your hospitality!!

Our trip to Kutta was not to Coorg actually but to Nagarhole. The drive to Nargarhole from bangalore is really nice. Especially as you approach nargarhole, its extremely peaceful and green. Less traffic, and we got to see a lot of birds, deer n elephants while on the road itself. This trip to nargarhole was fortunate for us in a lot of ways. The weather was favorable, we had our first tiger sighting and our place of stay was lovely and comfortable. We wanted a a/c room in the new section but at the last minute the owners had a booking frm their regular customers so offered us their non a/c older house. this was a typical corrgi house from the earlier times, small rooms, cotton beds, tiny wooden windows a small kitchen n dinning area. Normally they reserve this for larger groups as it can accommodate 8 ppl. We are vegetarians so had requested for veg fare - no eggs. The food was good, Im a manglorean n the cooking style was very similar to ours to my delite. The owners are really sweet and easy to speak to. we spent a lot of our time at the wildlife Sanctuary , the owners arranged for a nite safari (more of a jeep ride on the main road on the way back from the temple ) and a temple visit in wayanad. The location of this homestay is very ideal - close to wayanad n nargarhole. We visited here in march 2013 - I was unable to chose tht date on tripadvisor but the review was long overdue - I wanted to share it as it was a very memorable and happy holiday for us.

When you are looking for a homestay in Coorg, you are looking for personal touch and warmth, not a commercial entity. Mr Manu Aiyappa and his Green Retreat epitomises this perfectly. Right from the booking (which can be done only through his personal bank account) to the stay and food, everything is taken of by Manu and his lovely wife. This was our second trip and things have only got better - food, rooms and the night trip that he arranges to Wayanad for his dear customers. The food is delicious and Coorgi, and since we eat everything, pork et al weren't an issue. And located right across the coffee estate, the serenity and quiet of the place - especially when you want a relaxed holiday - is just perfect. Since Manu offers only few rooms, please book in advance for the best deal. Only one disappointment is that they do not serve lunch any more. Since one is usually travelling to nearby attractions in the morning, that didnt prove to be a major problem.

This is one of the best home stay I have stayed. Very co-operative host. Their hospitality was one among the best. They spoke to us just like a family member. Food provided was mouth watering. Someone who likes pork tell them upfront and they will serve you best pork you have had till now. Rooms are clean, bed is good, toilets are clean, there is coffee plantation through which you can walk during evening. Would recommend this place to all.

We travelled to kutta as two families ( 4 adults, 2 kids and one infant) during July 2015. It is a wonderful place to relax with your family. We took the rooms in the modern house. The rooms were very spacious and so were the bathrooms. It was clean and well maintained. Ample space in the hall for kids to play and our kids enjoyed very much. We had a walk around the estate and enjoyed multiple drives in Nagarhole and to thirunelli temple. Very near to kutta town, but once you are inside the property, it is a complete transformation. We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality. Food was good with excellent desserts. Will surely go back again with family. There was a helper and we were always given the hot water that was needed for the infant and any other requests for extra tea/coffee were all taken care.
