this motel has the charm of staying on the outskirts of the famous corbett park. the owner is extremely charming and helpful. the safari that was organized for us was good and the guide and the driver who took us into the jungle took extra interest in driving us around the park. they were very patient and did not hurry up but took time to wait until we spotted a tiger which had gone into hiding after a kill.. the food was awesome and the hospitality shown to was very good. i highly recommend this place .

On 14th November 2017, at exactly 10 AM, I logged in the website for Corbett National Park and reserved an accommodation at Dhikala FRH for 29th December within a booking span of two minutes. Our itinerary was to leave from Delhi on 28th December by Bhopal Shatabdi at 6 AM, reach Agra, wind up and leave for Ramnagar by 1 PM, reach Ramnagar by road and halt at Ramnagar for the night, leave for Dhikala on 29th by 11 AM, reach Dhikala by 1 PM, avail the evening safari and morning safari and return to Ramnagar on 30th by 1.00 pm and board the 15:35 Shatabdi from Kathgodam to Delhi. Our main concerns were the road trip from Agra to Ramnagar, accomodation at Ramnagar and hiring a gypsy for our intended safaris inside Dhikala and a drop to railway station at Kathgodam from Ramnagar. I went through a lot of online portals and did some serious browsing to finally select Karans Corbett Motel. I called up and was greeted by Karan. I told him about my itinerary and asked him if he could address my concerns. He requested for some time and informed that he would be able to let me know by 15th of December. That was fine for me, as I had a trip planned till 10th of December to photograph the rare White Bellied Heron deep inside Namdapha National Park in Arunachal Pradesh. It was during our course of conversation that I came to know he was also an avid birder, been to Eagle Nest in Arunachal along with many birding destinations in the country and was a passionate wildlife enthusiast. After my successful trip from Namdapha, I called Karan and inquired about the bookings of Ramanagar and Dhikala. His immediate response and assertions regarding the same relieved me of apprehensions I previously had and I and my better half were all set for an experience in Corbett which perhaps held on to our imagination since reading a chapter from our English text book way back in 1998. As per our Itinerary, we reached Ramnagar on 28th December at a late hour of 10:30 PM, after an exhausting 9 hour drive from Agra by AHA Taxi. Karan Bhai called us at 9 PM, took our dinner orders and guided us to his motel for the remaining few kilometers. We were welcomed by an extremely warm staff, who immediately served excellent dinner and showed us our room. We were very pleased with the beautiful cottage with neat interiors, solar heated water, fresh linen, large spacious washroom and comfortable beds. By 11:30 after a hot shower we hit the sack. I woke and went around the premises just as dawn was breaking in. Karans Corbett Motel has big open spaces, views of clear skies, a large parking space, a closed roof auditorium and two lovely Labradors. The kitchen was very hygienic and the cooks very well mannered. Not a single polythene on the premise, it was lush, green and meticulously maintained. Karan, a man of medium height and fit stature, dressed in camouflage cargos and a polo came to meet us at 9:00 AM. He knows Corbett NP like the back of his hand and he indicated on map all the places that my safari was going to take me inside Dhikala. He briefed us on all the nuisances we would come across, as well as the best possible ways to explore Dhikala in its pristine beauty. During our brief conversation we never felt so far away from home, and neither did we feel like tourists or strangers. We have extensively travelled and explored all the National Parks in Assam and some in Arunachal and in this age of digital nonsense and weird eco- tourism, it is very difficult to find someone who is not only rooted to nature but also believes in ethical tourist management. We received our vehicle at 10 AM, an open top gypsy with a polished chassis, comfortable hand rails, excellent suspension, smooth engine and good tyres and met Dilsher Bhai, our remarkable driver and guide for Dhikala. We had a hurried breakfast, bid adieu to Karan Bhai, cleared our dues and payments for the Gypsy and the Taxi hire to Kathgodam for the nest day to Shakeel Bhai and left for Dhikala by 11 AM. After a memorable stay and safari at Dhikala, we returned to Karans Corbett Motel for a fabulous lunch the next day at 1 PM before leaving for Kathgodam and reaching there 1 hour ahead of our departure time by Shatabdi. Apart from amazing food and accommodation which Karan Bhai offered, he delivered us a service which was not just punctual but extremely professional. Corbett is about experiencing something more than just tigers, and as responsible tourists and tour operators alike it is the duty of everyone to make sure that these habitats like many others in the country are always kept in their pristine and virgin state. And yes, we sighted the tigress Paarwaali/Paro near Paarwaali Chowki at 9:13 AM on 30th Dec, as she basked in the golden rays of the morning sun on a high bank of the cobalt blue Ramganga River, standing and crouching twice before disappearing among the ripe long grasses in her territory of unparalleled beauty.

We had a booking at Karan's Corbett motel this Jun'17, The hotel was neat and clean. In a minute you feel you are in a city and as soon as you enter this location you feel you are admist a quaint place with a lot of mango trees around. Budget friendly, Karan was very helpful and accommodative. We had elderly parents visiting along with us, and he made sure our needs were accommodated. Very knowledgeable about the offerings in Corbett National park. June as a moth can be avoided visiting Corbett as it is very hot and the main zone closes by 15 Jun.

If you are looking for a posh and cozy place to get pampered, then you should avoid this. Karan's Corbett Motel scores in its simplicity, earthy feeling, natural homely ambiance and the warmth and hospitality. Simple rooms, lots of space, beautiful garden and lots of trees makes (and mangoes during season) your cottage living a pleasure. The biggest plus is the food. Though the dining room is a 2 minute walk from your room, it's worth. The chef is really good and you can your food tweaked to your taste bud. I liked the simple but unique Chicken curry that he made for our families. The open air breakfast was another key point in our stay.. felt like living in a bungalow for a day :-) To top it all, you have Karan.. always available and ready to help with anything you need! A place to visit again.

We just went to this place after a visit from Bhimtal was too hot this May season.... No bookings done and the best part Karan (owner) had just kept his commitment...it was just a phone call @ 2 weeks ago and he said ..just come over and we will manage....that was his commitment... He helped us for the Jungle safari booking, but luckily we got the Safari booking thru a lucky draw..... Food ....yummy yummy....was it...try all their dishes...its a signature dish they have and Karan has a special taste and attentions towards the foods prepared.... Karan..thanks for your hospitality and care which you ensured ...I have never ever seen such special hospitality from others... Will surely meet up again.... Take care Rajesh S B (Vashi, Navi Mumbai)
