We had 3 days and 4 nights stay in this Hotel during March 2017.its Decent hotel But only negative aspect is location of Hotel. Hotel do not face northern side or Himalayan ranges. Information about Dalhousie It's Another Hill station of Himachal Pradesh. Height: 1970m. You can reach here from Amritsar in 4-5 hrs drive thru ghat roads (thru hired vehicle). Dalhousie is quiet & calm town. This town is built and settled during British era. During month of March and early April, temperature at night around 11 to 12 degrees and day time its 20 degrees which is pleasant month. Kala top, Gandhi market, Khajjar, Chamba are must to visit places in Dalhousie. Kala Top:A place for nature lovers, 25kms from Dalhousie, you enter in dense forest from Lakkad Mandi post. Kala Top is dense forest consists of Davdar trees mainly. We walked for around stretch of 1km after we entered into the forest. It has breath-taking view of Mani Mahesh Mountain. This walk through is really refreshing. Temperature in the forest was 4-5 degrees lesser than town area. Enthusiasts can take a small trek. Also stay is available for the nature lovers. Khajjar: Khajjar is located 35kms from Dalhousie. Its a flat plateau surrounded by dense trees. Also you can take a horse ride for 3km in that dense forest. There are many activities like horse riding, balloon ride, and bouncy castle. Chamba:Chamba is 54km from Dalhousie. Its a calm village. It is surrounded by mountains. You must visit Lakshmi Narayan Mandir and Chamunda Mandir. Lakshmi Narayan Mandir is 10thcentury temple, time of Maurya dynasty. It has six different temples in the same compound.

I visited this hotel with my husband last month and I have mixed reviews on this hotel. We had booked a 2-day stay at this hotel through Goibibo. However, when we reached there we found that there was unavailability of rooms due to which they refused us a room on that day. Apparently they gave preference to the guests who booked through them directly. We had to find another hotel on the same day due to which we wasted an entire day of our 3-day trip to Dalhousie. They promised us a room the next day, and so we came back to this hotel again, the next day. Something which I liked about this property is its location. It is located at a hot spot in Dalhousie near Mall road. The view from the hotel is breathtaking. Food was another thing which changed my opinion about this hotel. It was super scrumptious and worth the money. Another thing which I didn't like about it was Cleanliness. The bedsheet and the blanket were filthy and stank. It made it difficult for us to sleep at night. Even the bathrooms were not clean, especially the shower area. They need to work on their management as well as cleanliness. Kindly change the blankets regularly.

Post our fiasco with Hotel Skylark in McLeod we were sure not to check into any 'budget hotels' as the concept of budget hotels in India is twisted. It means dirty cheap hotels and not great facilities within a certain price range. Even basic needs/hygiene of a room are considered luxury demands. So we knew what we would go in for in Dalhousie. Here again because not great hotels were available but just luck by chance we discovered Hotel Ark near Gandhi Chowk(actually 5mins of uphill trek away from the Chowk) the rooms were well equipped and sported a neat look. Smelled great and provided basic things - soap, shampoo, towel, toilet rolls. Clean big rooms with a reasonable mountain view(Read - garbage less view) The hotel also has a two way opening lift. Polite staff and tasty food. My nephew was excited to see a small bar fridge in the room and shower cubicle as well. After the initial shock this hotel was like a breath of fresh air. We regretted that they had availability for only one night else we would have extended our stay for sure. The downside of this hotel was they said they accepted cards however at check out time said the card machine lines are down hence we must pay in cash. As tourists we felt challenged and torn between spending liquid cash vs safer card option. Overall a good option to stay in if you aren't looking for five star luxury hotel. Which I guess are a rarity in this part of Himachal.
