What's Good: Location
What needs to improve : Single person running the whole hotel
Reason For Rating : There was no staff at the hotel. A single person was running the whole hotel. The hotel location is good but very bad service at the hotel.

What's Good: The Hotel is at Good Location , does not require to spend money on transport to visit the Mall Road. Taxis for NJP are available within one minute walk. It is clean as compared to other same rate hotels. It is at 3rd floor so climb the stair slowly for not getting tired.

What's Good: Other than the fact that getting connected to the WiFi was a bit of a problem, the stay at the hotel (though it was pretty short) was good, as I see it. I should extend my "Thank you" to Dekeling.

What's Good: We stayed for a very short period of time, 24 hours to be exact. I'm very happy with my experience at Dekeling. Great location. A consistent availability of WiFi signal could make things "excellent".

What's Good: The only problem with this Hotel is that a minimum of three floors have to be climbed before reaching the reception and there is no lift for the guests. This is a difficult task for the aged and physically challenged tourists.

What's Good: Great location. Good view from the rooms facing the market/hills. Mount kancha was clearly viable.though bthe rooms at the rear were better. Overall , an excellent hotel.

Let me start with a word of caution. Be prepared to climb four floors if you are planning to stay here. Hotels don't have lifts in Darjeeling. You should stay at this place to experience the hospitality of the owners. Ms. Sangi took excellent care of us by providing some delicious Chinese as well as Indian food. Very rarely have I experienced such quality of service. She made us feel at home. The rooms are also pretty decent and worth the money. Very near to the main market and other good restaurants. Parking is of course a problem here.

The rooms are cramped and smell dusty. The waiter/bearers seem to be too eager for tips. Only positive point is the location which cannot be better. It is bang on the mall opposite Keventers. Infact you can see people eating on the terrace of Keventers from your window. All popular eateries are at a walking distance of not even 5 mins and you have the taxi stand bang below the hotel. So, considering the room rates, this is a decent hotel for only its location. Not at all suitable for elderly people or people with knee/joints pain as you need to take 70 flight of stairs to reach the reception.

The Dekeling is a very cozy hotel with a unique character. All the staff are super hospitable and really make you feel at home. The view is amazing and there is a menu available all day and night with delicious food. The location is very convenient.

Seeing the reviews i booked 2 rooms for 2 & 4 nights in 2 different names through *Clear trip* but as soon as we reached the hotel after traveling for 18 hours by road, our first impression was very shocking. Primarily we mentioned our name and asked to check the booking at the reception. The guy simply denied about any booking in our name and asked for the printout. We showed him the printout and then he was bit confused and he took us most probably to the owner. The owner was an aged lady and she confidently refused us of any booking and even told that she had mentioned *Clear trip* that her hotel was sold out. She tried to show me the mail regarding the matter. Logically, if any hotel is sold out then we get to see it while booking itself. Then i called *Clear trip* and reacted fiercely about such irresponsible unprofessional behavior of them. Somehow the person attending the call on the other end assured me of taking prompt action. After few minutes the lady came to us saying that she can provide us our booked rooms by replacing her friend's booking. We realized it was our complaint to *Clear trip* that worked. She was trying to hide her mischief and was like doing mercy to us, which wasn't true. Any sensible person can realize what her motive was regarding the booking as we did too. Being a pick time, due to extended weekend and high demand of rooms, the management thought of selling them at higher rates ignoring our booking that was made two weeks prior. However, after we managed to get our allotted rooms the toiletries weren't provided, staffs aren't that professional. Still i can say the lobby is the best part of this hotel where you can sit for hours and enjoy the beautiful scenic view.

This is really a pleasant place to stay. The staff (and owner) are delightful, our room was spacious, well-appointed, and perfectly clean. The sizable top-floor common room (where you can - and should - also have breakfast) has sweeping views of the town and surroundings, comfy chairs, and a good library. Kanchenjunga is very visible from the common room. Unfortunately, during our three days, on only one morning was its summit ridge (and only the summit ridge) visible above the smog coming up from the plains . The view must be spectacular on a sunny clean-air day. The hotel is located right at one of the two main pedestrian "center-points" in Darjeeling ("Clubside"). One of the two principal jeep/taxi stands is right outside the door. The other center-point (Chowrastra) is a brief uphill walk away (on a pedestrian-only road). The very interesting Himalayan Tibet Museum is an even shorter walk away in the opposite direction. When we left, we walked down to the rail station, which is not far. The Lloyd Botanical Gardens are also a walkable distance for most everyone (it's mostly downhill to get there; the staff will gladly tell you how). The Zoo and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute are farther, but not outlandishly distant for a walk. At street-level in the hotel's building is the Dekeva Restaurant, associated with the hotel. Very good momos. Keventer's and Hasty Tasty (good "standard" Indian food) are very close, in the direction of Chowrastra. The building itself is rather interesting. Hotel Lunar occupies the first 2 (or so) floors above street level, and Dekeling Hotel occupies the floors on top of it. Thus, lots of stairs to climb - though they are well covered in case it is raining.
