What's Good: Very clean and well maintained modern property with latest amenities
What needs to improve : Catering service needs improvement . One has to order far ahead to get food. Location of the hotel is slightly away from the mall.

This lovely, charming hotel, a little way up the hill out of the busy town of Darjeeling, is a super place to stay. Bema and her staff are so friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spacious and clean with a kettle with complimentary tea and coffee. The food is excellent and the breakfasts so good and copious that you hardly need anything else to eat before dinner! The views from the hotel must be fabulous due to its position but, when we were there, we were surrounded by cloud! We did see photos, though, and they looked amazing. Oh.... and the electric blanket and the wall heaters were a very welcome addition as the weather was pretty chilly when we were there. Thank you, Dekeling Resort for a wonderful stay!

We froze. We were really looking forward to this place given all the great ratings it had, but when we arrived it was freezing. The heating was totally inadequate and it was only when I got stroppy (on my third time complaining) that they added a one bar electric heater to the room - which continued to be inadequate. The owner then decided to tell me that the staff now had no heat as we'd taken their heater. That just really irritated me - especially as I'd paid her the equivalent of EUR 750 the previous evening for a 5 night stay for 4 of us. She just didn't seem to get that heating is a basic requirement when paying those sort of rates. It was impossible to enjoy what was otherwise a lovely guesthouse given the cold in the rooms. The hotel isn't very central although they have a driver who will bring you up and down to the town once per day. WiFi is very poor. Apart from that, the rooms were spacious and comfortably furnished, the food was good and the views from the terrace are excellent.

Our tour operator booked another resort for us, but it was cancelled for some reason and immediately booked here. We reached here in the evening, they immediately made all the arrangements for our stay there. Very welcoming people. The rooms are very good, spacious and amazing view of Mt.Kangchenjunga peak and that is the highlight. The bedroom has a heater. All the mirrors (room and bathroom) have the heater so it will not get moist. They provide the cab for us to go to the market, both pick up and drop available. They have delicious breakfast. We just loved the place and people there. We had a chance to walk around the resort all the rooms are very nice especially heritage rooms, all have the guest room with small library. And while leaving Aunty gave us a packet of roasted Darjeeling as a gift. Thank you for a memorable stay in Darjeeling

After a lot of research and analysis, we booked Dekeling Hawk's Nest. As suggested by other reviewers we had called up the owner lady and informed her of our dinner choice. We were greeted warmly at 7:30pm and were given a room quite swiftly. We requested a room with good view of Kanchenjunga and it was obliged. The rooms at the ground floor were awesome and amazing. It was a double room with a living space and a bedroom. Everything was good about the rooms and the food served later. The owner was very supportive and was very warm throughout our stay. She even woke us up the morning when Kanchenjunga was visible thru the clear morning skies, the only rare occasion we got to see the ice capped giant. Food served is English breakfast. Indian options too available but should be ordered well in advance. Food prices also were not high, but could be less. Overall a very satisfied experience and I would not have a second choice to book this hotel again. Having travelled with a 6 yr old daughter the only glitch was the steep walk from town center to the hotel. Otherwise this hotel is a 5/5, atleast for the care you get from the lady at the resort!

The Dekeling Resort is far enough out of town to be reasonably quiet, but hardly reclusive. However, it is separated from town by a steep walk, so not really convenient for exploring Darjeeling on foot. However, the hotel runs a free shuttle service to-and-from town. It's a compromise between a town centre hotel and a hillside retreat. Without doubt its great appeal is the friendly and personal attention you receive. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. Both my wife and I slept really well here. We were half-board and enjoyed our food. There is no a la carte menu, but the staff are happy to cook to your taste. Breakfast consisted of porridge, eggs cooked to order accompanied with vegetables and delicious Tibetan bread. Make sure you have the Tibetan soup starter in the evening; it's a meal in itself. The main course and dessert were always excellent. My only problem was that the portion size was so large that initially it was intimidating. The cook soon adjusted to our modest appetites. You will not go hungry here! My lasting memory of the resort is this: After three weeks of arduous travel I arrived tired, with a queasy stomach and homesick. After five days here I felt happy rejuvenated and ready to continue Overall, this is a good choice for staying in Darjeeling.
