We stayed here for 4 nights which was 4 too many. Considering we paid 54 per night including a very poor breakfast we were very disappointed. A few points were that the bed linen was so damp we couldn't sleep in it instead we slept between 2 blankets, the shower was over the hand basin so you couldn't keep any toiletries on the shelf and the floor then was wet so if you later wanted to use the toilet or basin to brush your teeth then you had to walk on a wet floor which was very dirty. The room was always damp infact our clothes that were just left on a chair overnight were so damp by the next day that they never dried luckily we took sealable plastic bags so put all our clothes in these and left them in our luggage. The breakfast was odd as we were just presented with things and never asked what we would like so they put on our table omelette, stuffed paratha which I sent back as it had a long hair in it, banana and toast, one day we had French fries. In the room there wasn't a wardrobe just cupboards which as I said we didn't use because of the damp, and 2 pairs of flip flops which I would not use as other people's feet would have been in them which is very un-hygenic. I was so glad to leave as Darjeeling was also overflowing with people and the roads that really should have been single file were used by 2 way traffic, motor bikes and pedestrians which was noisy and dangerous.

The hotel is very average one and had a stay for two days during end of May 2019. To start with the positives: 1. The hotel location is at the city centre 2. Neat and clean bathrooms 3. Breakfast is limited to few options. Negatives: 1. No Car parking or commute to the hotel by Car. The street leading to the hotel is very narrow and you may have to walk 500- 600 meters to get the hotel. Not suitable for the elderly or the ones who are not ready to walk the steep path to the hotel 2. You may have to carry your luggage dragging (500 ~600 meters) through the filthy and narrow streets with / without the help of the hotel guys. To make things worst the hotel did not have a functional trolley to carry your luggage. 3. The lift / elevator can accommodate a max of single person if you are well built and can be best described as claustrophobic. 4. I was unfortunate to get 2 rooms at 5th floor one was opposite to the kitchen and another adjacent to the kitchen. The noise of using utensils / cutlery and sound from the table used for cutting vegetables all of them emanating from the kitchen was highly disturbing and felt like we were staying at the kitchen itself. To add to that the burnt smell made the matters worse. Keeping the room door shut did not help to insulate the noise by any way. 5. The service of the hotel manager was totally unfriendly. we requested him to change the rooms but he declined stating that these were one of his best rooms and he did not have any vacant rooms at that time. We then asked him to cancel the booking due to the issues mentioned above but he was rude and unsympathetic and insisted on full payment for the cancellation. We had no option except to stay, walk each time to the cab at steep incline 600 mts away, and it was horrible experience for the oldies who came with us. 6. we did raise the issues with booking.com through which we booked the hotel stay. Infact Booking.com people were courteous and tried to help me out with genuine intent. I did raise a formal complaint with booking.com 7. The deluxe rooms were no more than 80 square foot and not worth the rent they charge for.

To tell frankly I was a bit unsure when I booked this hotel. That was due to my circumstances, as I travel with my non-ambulatory son. Before even checking in to this hotel I had been repeatedly calling the hotel to ensure that my non-ambulatory son could be supported during our stay. From then onwards the manager corresponded with me with utmost compassion and personally oversaw each and every arrangement so that we did not face even the smallest of inconvenience. But that was the manager, the staff were equally good and helped us like their own family member. I have rarely such good people and such a great place to stay at our holidays. It would be relevant to add here that, the place of the hotel, its facilities, staff and food are great. If I ever visit Darjeeling again, I would be staying at this hotel and no where else.

I would personally recommend every on to go for this hotel when you are in Darjeeling. I had dinner only once and when we arrived late. The kitchen was closed. However, on request they served me dinner and we had chicken and rice. The chicken was like home made and yummy and its like you can't get any better. We regret we should have taken dinner all through our stay. The room we booked was AC deluxe and it was perfectly cleaned and good thing was that the room is exactly the snap we had seen. Every thing else it was the service, the behavior, and the cooperative nature that makes me feel come again. On my way back to Kolkata, I left a ZARA jacket in the car. I called up at the reception. They agreed to communicate with the driver and collect it and courier it safely to my home address on a certain payment. Such is the hospitality, especially Mr. Samrat. Every staff is so humble and down to earth. I had even given good tips to the care taker - He was such a humble guy. Truly it is the people who make this place beautiful.
