We visited Kumar kothi last year in may, the place is really good and homely. located bit away from hurly-burly of city. 5 min walk from main circle. Good place for backpackers, yougsters, couples etc. I won't recommend it for family with elderly people. The view from Windows is awesome. Rooms were clean. Neharika is very good host and her family too. Overall had good experience.

Everyone at the stay took care of us very well. Provided hot water and tea whenever necessary. uncle, aunty and chayan was very loving. A special thanks to the santay n suday . Room was good n clean. I will definitely suggest Kumar kothi if you are visiting Darjeeling. Food was very delicious charged at 150 per pax for Breakfast and 200 for dinner. We were also provided with halogen heater charged at 200 for the entire stay. These prices are absolutely reasonable.

We stayed at Kumar Kothi for 5 nights in the month of May 2016. We have always stayed in hotels, but we wanted to do something different in our Darjeeling trip hence after reading some reviews on tripadvisor, we decided to do a Homestay. If you are someone who wants to avoid the hustle bustle of the city and main market then this is the place to stay. The place is around 10-15 minutes away from the main market and it's part of the small village on the hills.Let me mention the Pros n Cons in detail for my fellow travellers. Pros : Cosy room & big clean bathroom. The views of the beautiful Kanchenjunga from the room is to die for. Homemade breakfast and food made on request and is additionally charged, kindly intimate a day prior. House members very warm and welcoming. If you want to know more about the culture and history then u have to speak to the older gentleman of the house, who is more than welcome to assist you and strike a conversation.Overall good place to camp. Cons: If walking is a taboo for you then you should look else where, this is not a place for you to stay. You have to walk a good 20-25 minutes if you are not a seasoned walker, the 10 minute walk is for locals who walk the path everyday. The road is uphill and in the evening it's pitch dark (carry a torch). You will not be able to do multiple trips up and down if you with family. So before you leave the house make sure you have everything packed the previous night. Disclaimer - not suitable for anyone with any ailments, lot of luggage, senior citizens and children. No vehicle are allowed beyond Chowrasta anyways so you don't have a choice but to walk.Potters are available to take you there but they are not very well aware of this homestay, so you have to co-ordinate or speak to Niha about your requirements prior to your booking. Yes you will have to pay extra from your own pocket. Apart from the walking there is no other issue. Expect a decent stay. Capture the beauty when the day is clear, bright and sunny..Cheers!!!!

I stayed in Kumar Kothi with my family. First minus point is that it's too far from main road, car can not reach upto home. It will take 15-20 minutes walk to reach there . So, once you go there, it's difficult to go out for market. porter & everything, we have to pay from our pocket, ultimately we have to spend more to stay in this Kumar Kothi with restricted mobility, it's not good decision to stay in this home stay, when there are lots of options available in this big city......!

We stayed @ Kumar Kothi in end of June 2015. The place is 10 minutes hill walk from main Chowrasta Road. Niha arranged porter to carry luggage for us. During our stay, we had BF and Dinner @ Kumar Kothi. The quality and quantity of food was very good. It is value for money. One thing I appreciate is specially prepared food for my kid. If you can walk 10 minutes on HILL with Kid, it is good place to be at.
