What's Good: Location
What needs to improve : Room, service, non-24-hours-hotwater
Reason For Rating : Location is good, not so far from city center. Room is just OK. Service is bad, reception is not useful so much. Hot water is not 24 hours. Hotel itself is not so much beautiful as photo show. Totally speaking, hotel itself has not reached my expectation at all.

What's Good: Room sizes
What needs to improve : Unhygenic and dirty food and beverage quality
Reason For Rating : Dirty water was served to us in breakfast on 28th sept 2018. 3 people in family fell ill the next day, whole trip was spoiled.

What's Good: Size of rooms
What needs to improve : Unhygienic food and services in restaurant
Reason For Rating : Hotel location is barely 500 mtrs from mall road. Buffet menu is limited but serves the purpose. Dirty water with floating algae served in restaurant and yet Hotel Manager Abhishek took no action even after it was reported to him. Hotel has a swimming pool, kids room and a library. Good part is the awesome size of rooms. Stay only if u want to risk your health and hygiene.

Stayed at hotel for two nights of 26 and 27 Dec 2018 with my wife and daughter. Room 114 was provided to us. The hotel is not at all prepared to house guests during winter. Outside temperature was 2 Deg C and the hotel provided us with a single rod heater of 1kw. The room windows were leaking cold air into room and we shivered throughout our stay in room for one night, the room temperature was 6 Deg C and we all slept in bed with 5 layers of clothing. Bathroom geyser was able to deliver only 5 litre of hot water so bathing was out of question. Reception staff is dresses shabbily and only noted our complaints with indiffence. We asked for a smaller room hoping it would be cosier but to our dismay the smaller room 104 was even colder with fresh air duct opening into room ceiling blowing cold air into room, again we had to sleep with 5 layers of clothing in a chilly room....the housekeeping had a funny response saying cold air into room is provided to give oxygen to guests. This hotel might be good in summers but is nightmare for guests in winter. I would try to contact govt authorities who have given 4 star rating to this hotel as hotel deserves no more than 2 stars. The buffet breakfast was terrible and F&B guys were wearing tattered and old faded clothes. Everything about the hotel is pathetic. Think 5 times before checking into this hotel.

The first 30mins spent at the hotel already gave us the glimpse of what's coming up for the 3 days i booked the hotel for. I stayed at 3 hotels in Darjeeling and i was the most excited to live at the pine tree because of the made up pictures and the promised facilities. I was shown 3 rooms which looked absolutely different from the pictures when i made the reservation. I was so dissapointed that i ended up asking if it is the same hotel. To my surprise, it wasn't. There was an adjacent building which was so called "heritage" and the room was supposed to be there. Even then, it was very much Below expectations. There was no tea kit, no bath kit, no toilet paper. I spent 2hours chasing the reception to get a WiFi code, which still didn't come through. The reception number couldn't connect from the room, no one would answer the housekeeping and room service was deaf to the complaints. The hotel is highly over priced for the look, maintenance, service and artificial heritage decor which is it improperly maintained. Extremely dissapointed at making this choice and i hope reading this review, i can help at least a few readers to not make a blunder and feel ripped on arriving at The Pine Tree Spa Resort. PS: nothing about this place is even close to calling it a "resort" and very far from a "spa resort".

I stayed here with my 2 adult children for 2 nights in December. On the plus side, the rooms are a good size and comfortable. The breakfast buffet and room service meals are good quality. On the negative side, they start loud piped music in the hallway from 715am so forget sleeping in. The bathroom has a lot of leaky water so it's wet underfoot. And beware of running out of essential paper in the bathroom. I called room service and got no answer even though they say it's 24x7. I also asked at reception and even after our room was serviced there was still no paper. Not a great experience.

We stayed 2 nights and unfortunately could hardly enjoy our time there. The main reasons for this disappointing review is basically the bad customer orientation of the hotel. First the pros: In general, the hotel is charming and provides a great English heritage feeling in its heritage-part. The location is good, as the heart of Darjeeling is within walking distance. The food is good and the staff is friendly. Cons: Bad customer orientation 1) Room cleaning at checkin: The bathroom of our room has not been cleaned - there were human leftovers on the toilet. The bed sheets were dirty as well as the towels. The issues have been solved immediately, but the tone of the room service doing the work was not friendly. Anyhow, we felt bad for asking to solve the issues. 2) It gets cold - and the hotel charges the guest to heat the room. We stayed in a nice heritage room which also implies that the entire isolation is old, i.e. the windows are not closing accurately. Moreover there is no permanently installed heating. Thus it was very cold. We would not have been able (even as Germans are used to cold temperatures) to stay in the room! As we asked for heaters, they gave us 2 very small heaters. Besides, we asked for a bonfire to make use of the nice bonfire place and to heat the room. Both, the heaters and the bonfire, were delivered however, the hotel charges for both of them. This is somehow ridiculous: first, we had to ask to heat the room properly and second, we had to pay for it. How it could have happened: in Sikkim, where hotels also do not have central heatings, a heater was placed in our room before our arrival and the hotel did not charge us. 3) Service: 3a) on our second day we had to ask for bonfire again - to heat our room. It took 2 hours until the room service showed up, but than we had to go to dinner. We asked for a new timing. Again, the room service was late but then we went to bed. Consequently, we had no bonfire at the end. 3b) We got up at 3:30 am to leave the hotel for an excursion which is quite popular in Darjeeling - the hotel should know that some guests might leave that early... When we tried to leave the hotel, the entrance was locked and the staff at the reception was sleeping on sofas next to it. We somehow found our own way out of the property. This is neither 24/7 service nor professional. In conclusion: the hotel can be nice in summer months and I hope the entire team is putting an effort into using the nice property better. But based on our experience we would recommend to book another hotel. We could not enjoy our time there, it was mainly a disappointment due to reasons mentioned above.
