What's Good: It is a small hotel with limited rooms. Quite and peaceful
Reason For Rating : We had a very nice stay in Hotel Villa Everest. This is a small, neat and beautiful hotel. Rooms are very nice. Though a bit distant from mall road.. view and location of this hotel is good. It is around 1 kms from mall road.

Very beautiful and clean hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful views from the room. Limited choice of food. But very tasty and freshly made. It is about 15 min walk from mall Road, but only 5 minutes away from Darjeeling station

We stayed at the Villa Everest for 6 nights during our 6 month India tour. So far the best place we have stayed. This is an old house with lots of charm and wood - large wooden stairway to the upper floors. Our room (room 6) had nice exposed wooden floors, was large and clean. At this time of year they provide a small fan heater which was sufficient to warm the room. The view was slightly limited by the adjacent building but was front facing over the mountainside. Breakfast was very nice, although I would recommend staying with the Indian option - you cannot really get a good 'continental' style breakfast anywhere in India - anyway, why would you want it when the local food is so good? The only small downside, and a note to the management - because the building is old and the floors are wood, if you are on the first floor as we were, then you will hear everything that goes on in the room above. This was not a problem for the first 5 nights as the occupants of the room above were quiet. but on the last night a family with 2 young children took the room above and they decided to get up at 3am to do the Tiger hill trip and we were woken by them crashing around in the dark as they all got ready. So my advice to management is, to try to put families in the rooms on the first floor. Otherwise everything was perfect and the staff were fantastic, always available and helpful in every way. Location is good, only a 15 minute walk from the shops and restaurants. I fully recommend this hotel over all others in Darjeeling.

Small (11 rooms?) family-run hotel. Pleasant helpful staff. Adequate menu for small restaurant. It was helpful to have the restaurant on-site, as I don't go out after dark when I am travelling alone (I am in my 70's). Fairly flat walk to Chowrasta (10-15 minutes), then maybe 20-25 minutes to the Zoo (also fairly flat). Ten minutes walk straight down hill (zigzag, pedestrians only) to railway station. No lift to second floor, but the staff carried my bags! My room was heated with a fan heater, and there was an electric blanket on the bed, which was essential as it was near zero degrees outside.
