Dausa, also known as Devnagri, is an ancient town in Rajasthan situated at a distance of around 55 km from Jaipur and 240 km from Delhi. A Dausa tour offers an insight into the past as the place is of high archaeological significance. Although there are not many attractions within the city, tourists can visit nearby areas which are abundant in interesting sites.
During their stay here, visitors can pay a visit to Abhaneri, Bhandarej and Jhajhirampura, which are towns around Dausa. Abhaneri is home to medieval monuments like the Harshat Mata Temple which is a famous pilgrimage centre here. Bhandarej, at a distance of around 10 km from Dausa is famous for archaeological excerpts found in excavation. Jhajhirampura, surrounded by hillocks and natural water resource, attracts a large number of tourists. Being home to a number of temples, the place is also a revered pilgrimage centre.
The 100 ft deep Chand Baodi (step well) is an architectural marvel and must be visited on a Dausa trip. It has an entrance from the North and is closed by pillared verandahs. The steps of the well have still not been counted. Beautiful ancient idols and sculptures recovered from precincts of Harshat Mata temple are found here. Someshwar Temple in Bhangarh is another marvellous temple which has carved pillars.
Khawaraoji is another place of tourist interest near Dausa. The main attraction of this place is a fort which is the former residence of the 16th century ruler Raoji. Another monument of interest is the 1200-year-old fort, which has the Amol Ghati nearby. The fort is surrounded on its three sides by hills.
