Abhay Durg happened when we were planning a small road trip around Delhi for 3-4 days. After a delightful day at Bharatpur we drove to this place which seemed pretty good online, although it was untested because it had only four online reviews. At the end we are so glad that we went with our instincts. And that is what it is; an instinctively beautiful and happy place. And what is even better is that it is very modestly price. It was entirely a different experience as we were staying with the owners of the place who have a Royal Rajput ancestry. You can sense that in their grace, although they are simple and humble people. But their heritage is reflected in the photos of their ancestors and is also quite apparent when they share their outlook towards India and politics. They have done an enormous task of converting this old castle into such a beautiful Hotel with almost all the modern facilities and yummy Rajasthani food and other cuisines which you can enjoy at the rooftop. The place is almost nowhere near a major tourist attraction and the road is definitely not very impressive, yet our experience was so delightful as we were surrounded by a nondescript Rajasthan village where you see simple people in beautiful farms containing fresh vegetables where you can enjoy a quiet walk. Our then five year old had some fun time in the old building and enjoyed seeing the milking of cow. It was an experience where you just want to sit back, relax and experience this side of India, though we also chose to drive down to Chand Baori, Stepwell.

I come from Upland California, on a visit to the hockey India Village, in town. I had an overnight stay in this lovely king's palace. The hospitality was excellent. The local Rajasthani food added an excellent touch. Kaiser the dog, is a pleasure to have around. The morning breakfast with traditional aloo paratha on the terrace with the ambience in the view of the village and its environs was the perfect curtain closer to a memorable stay. Thanks to a very gracious host. Is truly a memorable B&B type of place. Would make a great stopover for lunch while on a journey between Agra and Jaipur. The approach road through the town to this heritage hotel is a problem but the overall experience well that makes up for all that.

Between Agra and Jaipur we found Abhay Durg in Saipur.A fort with 8 rooms .Great hospitality by the takur owners. The fort on a hill gives a special vieuw over the surroundings. The local staff is very helpfull and the local food has high standard. Do you look for a few days rest and reading far from the busy towns than is this fort a place to be

This is lovely hotel located between Agra an Jaipur. It has been lovingly refurbished by its owners. The owners are descendants of the original maharajas. It is a wonderful hotel in which to visit many nearby attractions. The step well that is very close is amazing and should not be missed. You will love the views from this hotel. I enjoyed speaking to the owner so much. You can tell he is very proud of the hotel and his heritage. A very interesting man.

Its incomprehensible for us that no one appraised the Heritage Hotel Abhay Durg on tripadvisor until now. Well, Mandawar lies a little off the beaten track half way between Jaipur and Agra (15 km north of NH11), therefore quiet in the country and in starlit air. Its a small castle, build not until the beginning of the 19th century, that still has a lot of authenticity, particularly because of the lovely owners. Both of them are still living in their castle and managed to offer a few guestrooms that are beautifully situated around a cloister-like courtyard. The meals were taken regularly at the rooftop terrace where you can enjoy an unlimited view down at the little village and the near wooded Aravalli Mountains. The owner pair, descendents from the once ruling rajas, keeps company with their guests if they like. Both of them are really great hosts that taking care of their guests as if they were family members. The landlady is, according to our experience, a wonderful cook and the landlord Raj an open minded cosmopolitan, eloquent and highly educated, which makes it a pleasure to have a talk with him. Weve felt immediately as we were at a good friends house. Abhay Durg is a place for perfect relaxation and an ideal starting point to visit Abhaneri or the old fortress city Rajgarh for example.
