I visited Tarkarli (Tehsil: Malvan, Dist: Sindhudurga, Konkan, Maharashtra) in November 2016 with my family. I had booked 'Swami Samartha Beach Resort', located at Deobaugh, a few kilometres away from Tarkarli beach, after studying its profile online. The most important part this resort offers is a direct view and access to the beach, as it is located exactly on the sea-shore. So, we could enjoy our tea, snacks, lunch and dinner facing the sea. If you need a break from your routine, there are hammocks, on which you can just lay lazily for hours, gazing intermittently at the sea. A family with the surname Chindarkar runs this resort and so a traveller can enjoy a home-made and typical Malvani style food, vegetarian or non-vegetarian (including sea food also). The resort also arranges dolphin safari inside the sea, if the weather is favourable. Near this beach, we can go for a range of sea-sports activities. It's just at a walking distance. Moreover, the beach of Malvan nearby this place also offers scuba diving and snorkelling. Dattaprasad (Sameer) Anil Thite

We booked this 1 week before actually going to the place we paid money by bank transfer but when we went there they said the place is full and they were very rude, I was in shock how can people can change as chamolion [ we were all were Doctors] and they will return the money but this is not fair so don't book this resort then thank god that we found nearby resort by name sagar there people were very nice so find nearby nabourhood resort better than this one. so please don't book this resort they are very rude and don't believe them

This place is a beach facing home stay , nice location to spend few days in Devbag . This is one beach which is completely untouched in Maharashtra . Few meters away from this resort you will come across a point where the reservoir and Arabian sea meet . Water sport in this place cheap if you bargain hard . Sea food is yummy don't forget to have prawns and rawas fish cooked by the owner of this place . Scuba diving is must for people who have never done it before as it is the only place in Maharashtra where you can do this . This place is Calm and soothing .

Of the several homestays and resorts hugging Maharashtras Devbagh (not to be confused with the place of same name in Karnataka), the Swami Samarth Beach Resort is one of the coziest. But remember this is not a resort at all, and cannot be called a homestay in the strictest terms. Located within a fairly large coconut grove, there are two blocks the owner stays in one with his family and the tourists in the other. The place is sandwiched between the road and the beach. The tourists block consists of four rooms in a row. Our room (No 1) was simple but clean and comfortable. The bathroom/toilet was clean with basic amenities in place. Rooms and toilet are cleaned everyday on request. Rooms have electricity and running water. The place makes no pretence of trying to make any cosmetic enhancements; rather prides in its rustic ambience. Nature is allowed to run wild within the premises, which ends seamlessly on the beach. There is no barrier to mark the boundary and you can just walk across to the beach. There is adequate lighting around the rooms but you will need a torch to walk through the orchard (required when you are coming from the road-end). But the place is safe for women travelers. On advance notice and separate payment, you can get home-cooked food (the regional Malvani cuisine is well known) for breakfast, lunch and supper. Tea and coffee served (but we had instructed them to give the sugar separately as they tended to add too much sugar). Also, you can ask them to go light on the spices. Note: Malvani cuisine used a lot of coconut in various forms, and seafood is one of their specialities. Take a walk along the beach, watch the fisherfolk draw in their early morning catch, or enjoy a bath in the sea (but be cautious as there are no lifeguards here). The owners can also arrange for local trips (including dolphin sighting trips and snorkeling near Sindhudurg).
